Huge loss for boxing community. R.I.P. Joe

 

thanks for the memory you will left behind...RIP joe

 

Frazier/Ali I is still the biggest fight in history, and Smokin Joe won it.. All that trash talk and name calling meant, and still means nothing, because he won The Fight of The Century.

Nobody could bob, slip, and weave like Frazier.. That left hook that he knocked Ali down with is timeless.. My favorite boxing highlight.

One of the most dangerous and exciting heavyweights in history.

Here's an example of what heavyweight boxing was like when I was growing up. It was undoubtedly one of the best eras in heavyweight history, and Joe Frazier was a HUGE part of that era.

R.I.P. Joe. Legend.

 

I thought Ali would go before him.. and Joe was just waiting to dance on his grave.

 

I was gonna write something last night when this thread 1st hit the forum.

I didn't know what to say...

I sat here 5 minutes & simply didn't know what to say. Being that I was right there back on March 8, 1971 as a Sophmore in college @ WVU, in tune with boxing since I was in diapers back in the 50's because my Dad & practically all his Brothers fought professionally during the depression, this loss of Smokin' Joe Frazier feels like I lost a relative, someone I knew closely.

I'm saddened by his loss & its good to know that he seemed like a happy man, which is all any of us could ask for.

I really liked Joe Frazier for what he stood for & disliked Ali for his stand. That's just the way it goes. Many of you may feel the opposite way & that is your privialge. But I'm sure every fan of Ali are feeling this painful loss, also.

I said my peace & now hope that Joe finds his...

 

He wouldn't have done that. I think they made up...somewhat.

But before the compromise between between them, when Ali lite the Olympic torch, Joe said if he was standing next to Ali, he "would have pushed him in the flames."

All that BS Ali said prior to their 1st fight must have biten Joe right to the core of his bones.

 

If you asked me to create an all time great heavyweight by picking from other fighter' attributes, I'd be inclined to pick Frazier's left, since it might be one of the most perfectly thrown punches in the history of the sport.

And I'd certainly think about taking the man's heart because it was massive, and allowed him to keep fighting in the face of severe, almost inhuman conditions.

Quite the champion, and he deserves his rest.

 

still shock they didn't build a statue of this man in his home town but opted for a statue of a fictional character,

very sad day, I knew the man was very ill, preyed for him to fight the cancer like he did all those opponents,

This man is a modern hero, his spirit lives on in all fighting fans
