    I think it should have happened around december 2011. Every second that passes is not good for that fight.

    I guess as long as neither loses before the fight its still big news, but dinners ready and its getting cold now, the fight needs to happen in 2012, preferably both of their very next fights.

    If either fighter has a close tough fight against, what's considered to be, a lesser opponent or loses to anyone, the fight will lose its appeal. Both fighters seeming unbeatable (not to mention their crossover appeal and exceptional talent) is what's making this fight as appealing as it is to such a broad audience, IMO.

    If it's the next fight for both, it will still do huge numbers. Otherwise it'll be at least 2013 (since Floyd only fights once a year) and they run the risk of interest starting to wain, if it hasn't already.

    a loss by either would dilute significantly the status of their fight. as long as they keep dominating, their fight will remain a superfight even if they were both in their 40's.

    Some good points, paticularly by Oli and Punisher. Pacquiao and Mayweather 'events'/fights take at least 7-8 months to promote. So Maybe they could get away with one more fight each, (PBF-Khan, Pac-Berto) if both win convincingly but after that this fight will at least be getting past its sell by date.

    When did it lose even its circus-act appeal, despite having always been a mismatch? (basically a superfight only in the same sense that Wlad vs. Haye was, in drumming up zombie interest but never actually looking to be competitive on paper to anyone in the know).

    To be honest, I don't care anymore. By the time it is made Pacquiao would be 34 and Mayweather would be 35-36. Neither would be prime. It is at the point I just don't care no more.

    Well if they do decide to fight on 12-21-2012, and bill the fight as the "Last fight before the end of mankind", then I'd probably watch it. After that "end of the world" sh*t is over and done with, I think the demand for the fight will gradually drop.
