a good warrior, but too easy to hit. I think he was more than a tiny notch below Oscar and Tito and Shane. But he was very good. Hall of Fame? Hard to say. I rate him near Donald Curry as far as HOF possible.
Vargas was juiced up, which ultimately led to him tiring in the mid-late stages carrying extra muscle than normal. It was that more than his chin which let him down against Oscar. Oscar was having more success with right hands in that fight, his weakest punch. It was only when Vargas couldn't keep his hands up Oscar was able to land clean those fight changing left hooks. I agree Vargas was a very good fighter. Still the youngest JMW champ IMO. I thought he beat Winky. Tito just had too much experience, the low blows definately helped him.
He had a very annoying big mouth, which made him hard to like, but he was an exciting fighter to watch who was matched very tough when you look at the way a lot of young prospects get the kid gloves nowadays.I'm sure he was good friends with JCC,which might be one of the reasons Chavez Jr gets it so easy when it comes to match ups.I don't think he would have carried the same power up though and with his love of food, had he fought longer,he'd have had to fight at super middle more than he eventually did.Not surprised someone's enjoying his fights though.
I was a huge fan...obviously. Hahahaha, but on the real, if he wasn't rushed by his handlers he could have had an excellent career.
