Why is this guy getting more headlines than his best fighter? Everyday this guy has 25 articles about doing this and doing that. I respect what he's accomplished in the sport, but his fighters, and the fighter's manager and promoter should be the ones in the headlines.
I'll give you that. You're right on that one. He don't write it. Still...I just think his job is to train, not be the face of all his fighters and stay out of the limelight.
The media know Freddie Roach is always good for a comment that people will find interesting. It helps sell newspapers, magazines and advertising space. Freddie is also cunning enough to use the media space he gets to wage psychological wars on his fighter's opponents.
If your career sucked as a boxer and you have the opportunity to train and live through a celebrated fighters career, you would probably do the same thing. Don't take him serious.
Maybe the press seek out Roach because he gives a better interview than Pacquiao. I'm a Pacquiao fan, but his interviews are pretty awful... "If I train hard, the fight is easy" "He is a very good opponent, so I have to train hard" "I am training very hard for this fight" etc.
Well everyone talks about what he has to say........so it must be interesting. Pac is a great fighter but a crappy interview.
