It will not make economic sense to make a fight outside Montreal, Nottingham or Oakland. I doubt any of the s6 fighters will travel to Montreal without getting at least a 70% share and even that seems doubtful.

So the Question is if Bute is willing to travel to Nottingham or Oakland while getting less than a 50% share?

If Bute beats the SS winner then the whole tournament will look like a joke.

indeed, add there Copenhagen if kessler is involved and you have the 4 best location money wise.but if you want an unification fight that should be on neutral ground even if it generate less money at the gates, there's no point in fighting is someones turff...you seen what happen to kessler in oakland or to froch in Denmark.the home town hero will allways win,we don't want controversy on a fight like that.bute vs ward should be in Nottingham, bute vs froch should be in Oakland and ward vs froch in Montreal.i think they can sell tickets like this cause all these cityes are following smw and know those are hudge fights

it is allready looking like a joke with aa and johnson making to the semifinal, ward the only one who haven't travell making the final, with 2 mw who are **** at smw level being invited to a super smw tournament, with clowns like dirrell being invited, you name it.

    Froch bring 8 000 , Ward maybe the same and Bute 15 000 +

If you think about the money the smartest option is Montréal or Quebec.
If we forget about money it should be in neutral ground.

IMO Bute can draw 15K to MSG. The allure of the top2 or even 2vs3 would generate 10K alone at MSG, then throwing in the fact that it's only a 6 hour drive from Montreal would pick up another 4-5K.

Also, Bute is bigger in the NE in terms of popularity and that adds to the till as well, especially if there is to be a mega showdown with Ward. Kindof an East vs West.

That said, Ward don't like these odds, as his popularity is strictly diehards and race related. Also, the whole East vs West thing would favor Bute at MSG.

For a Bute Ward fight it would have to be in Vegas where Ward could potentially be the hometown fighter. But that said, unless Bute is willing to take a seriously low cut, likely 30% and in a smaller market/Vegas or Cali, I gotta think Ward will vacate and move to LHW in fear of a mandate with Bute.:deal

    did it entertain you?

did it create interest in 168 following the retirement of the only "superstar" at the weight?

those were the only things it set out to do & it has done very well at both imo.

It depends on the arena. For example, Martinez-Williams I and II both took place at Boardwalk Hall. The first match took place in the smaller arena, while the rematch took place in the main arena and was scaled for a capacity that nearly doubled that of the first fight. The main arena is capable of exceeding well over 10,000 though.

I think what the original poster was alluding to was the Froch-Johnson fight, which took place in the smaller arena in front of like 3,000 or so fans. Had that fight taken place in the UK, they probably would have had triple the amount in attendance. If a Bute fight against the winner the Super Six takes place in AC, I can see it happening in the smaller arena as well. While in Canada, it'll take place in front of a massive crowd.

Funny how much **** Bute gets for not traveling, when he wasn't even invited into the Super Six. While Andre Ward is in the tournament, and the only one out of the original six to never leave his own country. Hell, he's going into the finals without even having to leave his home state.

And don't forget to mention the HUGE attendance Ward generates in his Hometown!
