I just watched the replay. I did not hear any news about the fight and to be honest, without scoring the fight, I believe JMM won. Admittedly, JMM was countering the entire fight and did not take the fight to Pac, but he was hitting Pac cleanly and regularly whilst Pac was one dimensional and missing with all but a few shots. I think Pac is past his best and JMM has his measure. Any thoughts?
This is so typical. These guys fought almost even-steven for 24 rounds, but the boxing media had most convinced that Manny would destroy JMM this time. So because Marquez fights him on almost even terms, now the mind-set is that he must have won. And Grinder, if Manny was "missing with all but a few shots"; please help us out and explain those compubox punchstats. I know I'd appreciate it.
Compubox are processed by monkeys who press a button when they think a punch landed. JMM visually landed the cleaner better punches time and again
What a pathetically weak post by a fanboy. The thread asks if anyone scored for pac, you haven't even answered it. Urging compubox in the face of visual evidence is quite naive also.
Boxing hasn't been able to deliver Money-Pac, and managed to muster two flagship fights this year instead. Haye-Klitschko was an embarrassing non event. Now this outright robbery. Pretty ****ing horrible year for the fights. I can't remember a worse year. Two black eyes and a gaping void - boxing is like a meth additcted hooker in 2011.
Yes, it's worrisome. It looks bleak for boxing. Here in Mexico boxing is huge, but these outright robberies can only dampen young enthusiasm and create cynicism. It's a shame, because PacMan would have accepted his defeat graciously. Now he must play along. Everyone must. The media must report that Pacquiao "defeated" Márquez by majority decision last night in Vegas, Márquez cannot get to defend his title for richly deserved millions and Pac's supporters have to continue to smile weakly and applaud feebly as they did last night. A huge black eye and a gaping void is right.
A 6 page thread without 1 person scoring it to Pac, it's on the Brit forum, is it the commentary that affects judgement or does the US have more Pacquaio fans? http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=358245
All I have to say about the tv argument is, Khan, perhaps literally Manny's biggest fan, wasn't watching his own broadcast of the fight...if Khan can find a Marquez card, everybody should be able to do so.
It's simpler: there is a thing called justice, which was screwed in Vegas last night. It's disgraceful. But the whole world saw it. I can only pray that, in this media age, the backlash will be great enough to bring the rats out into the open.
Commentary does affect people though doesn't it and HBO can be quite leading with theirs, maybe that's why more Americans seem to have it to Pacquaio. Khan does seem to really know his boxing and more articulate than I expected, I didn't think he'd be a good commentator. It was funny when he kept talking about who he'd offered a fight to. How did you score it McGrain
Amir Khan said on broadcast he thinks Manny needs a KO to win!!! Everyone not biased scored for Marquez, i knew if fight was close Pac will get it, but when the last bell rang i was sure no way they are giving Pac victory here, how wron was I. I really feel for Marquez working your but of and they steal what you earned.
115-113 to Marquez BUT any rounds (2) that I struggled with I gave to Manny, knowing the judges would. I'll have another look and score it again, I think it would be worth it.
