Did anyone score Pac over JMM in their third fight?

HBO's Harold Lederman, had it 116-112, Pacquaio.

Before the fight I honestly thought Pac would probably get the KO this time sometime before the last 3rd of the fight, judging by how listless and slow JMM looked vs Mayweather I did not think he would be able to put on a better performance at this weight.

However it was clear early on in the fight that JMM was actually carrying the additional weight more effectively this time and his reflexes and timing seemed much sharper this time around as well. Had he more power at the weight he could have put siome serious hurt on Manny, he stunned him numerous times throughout and made Pac tentative in there for long stretches during the bout.

Anyway I did not score the fight but at the end I had the distinct impression that JMM had won the fight and not by a little margin either, from about the 5th round onwards he controlled the pace and tempo of the fight for the most part and landed the much more telling and effective blows from that round onwards.

I have a hard time believing after I score this fight myself when they replay it next week that I won`t have JMM the victor still, Manny simply wasn`t nearly as effective with his offense as JMM was during the entire fight, and being the busier fighter shouldn`t give you rounds if your missing with most of the punches you are throwing while the other guy nails you cleanly time and again but less often.

I really do feel for JMM here as it seemed like he elevated his game for this fight to another level, one of those final great performances from a fighter on the downhill slope of his career who put it all together one more time, only to get robbed of his glory at the end which I fully expected and was disgusted with the sport after the decision was announced.

Whatever happenss from here on JMM can walk with is head held high and take pride in the fact that he dished out a comprehensive boxing lesson to his main rival, even if he did not get the decision which was rightfully his imo. This fight puts him in my eyes above the likes of MAB and EM as well, and puts the stamp on his greatness as well once and for all.

Here is a man far above his natural weight class with tons of mileage on him, at a very advanced age and who most folks gave not a chance against the dynamo that is Pac and yet not only does he defy expectations but exceeds them in grand style, a truly great fighter JMM is and such a shame he could not bask in the glory of what was a career performace for him.

As for Pac, well whoever said he should stay the hell away from Mayweather is not that far off the mark, judging by this fight and his performance in the Mosley bout he does seem to have slipped a bit and lost some of that explosiveness of his that he still in the Margarito fight, and at this point I think we will start seeing a steady decline in his future performances.

Not to say that he wouldn`t acquit himself well vs Floyd should they meet, but at this point it does seem somewhat doubtful that he would walk away a clear winner if and when they do meet someday, if an old JMM could outfox and outbox him the way he did, Floud ought to be able to at least match him there and do better even, in which case Manny`s got some serious problems waiting for him.

Either way, to summarize JMM I feel was the rightful victor in last nights fight, and it is unfortunate that he had to get shafted by the judges just because his opponent was the cash cow for big fights to come, JMM should be the basking in glory right now and with the paydays coming his way, not Manny and I think deep down he probably knows this too.

I thought Pacquiao won the first fight against JMM, though he lost the second by 2 points.

He lost this one by 2 points as well. For Pacquiao-Marquez III, I had JMM at 115 to Pac's 113.

Marquez took rounds 1 (those body shots he ripped in close twice made the difference for me), 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, and 9.

Pacquiao took 2, 6, and the last three rounds.

Was this a robbery? No way. It was a petty larceny at best. The rounds were close and neither man pulled ahead for more than 3 1/2 seconds. Rounds 3, 6, 8, and 11 could have gone either way.

As it was, I thought that Marquez lost almost no exchanges if any at all, and neutralized Pacquiao's rushes and angles by positioning himself correctly, pivoting, and throwing shots aimed at where Pacquiao was likely to be instead of where he thought he was at. Additionally, Marquez lack of speed was compensated by throwing dummy shots and then coming right back behind it with the real shot. That was very smart.

...I gotta say, though, I'm surprised at Freddie. I think that he had a one-sided, one-dimensional strategy to defeat JMM. He failed to foresee JMM's strategy which was designed to foil Pacquiao's style and habits. Freddie went with intensity and hard-punching and forgot that counter-punching, trap-setting, and geometry overcomes southpaws and swarmers.

 

There is absolutely no question to who won that fight. It was a blatant robbery.

Last night, I had the impression that Pac will be way out of his league if he ever faces Floyd. Pac struggled with JMM... how in the world is he going to deal with a faster, sharper guy?

 

When Pacquiao raised his hands after the verdict declaring him the winner, i lost quite abit of respect for him. He was made to look ordinary last night and it wasnt very close at all.
