Objectively speaking, does Pacman stand a chance?

I literally just finished watching the fight, I downloaded it not knowing the outcome. It was a good fight, less enthralling than the previous two. Juan Manuel clearly did much better than ever before, which is a credit to him considering the fact that many people didn't think he would even last the full twelve rounds. During the post fight interview, kellerman asked manny what about marquez makes him such a difficult opponent, and manny, without hesitation, answered that he sits back and counters, and basically doesn't give manny many chances, forcing manny to go on the attack.

Everyone knows floyd's game, he does the same exact thing, but obviously at a much greater level, not even considering the other advantages and skills he brings into the ring. do you think pacquiao truly has any chance of beating floyd, and if so, how could he go about doing it?

In my opinion, after this fight, I really dont see manny being able to beat mayweather. mayweather will sit back and wait until manny fires, gets out of position, and he'll come back with venom all night, and at a level far beyond marquez, who pushes manny and arguably beats him every time out. I'm not a ***** or a *******, it's just clear to me. to tell you the truth, I think pacquiao marquez 4 would be the obvious next step for pacquiao in a perfect world.

    Styles make fights.

Marquez wasn't that aggressive, he is a counter puncher and his style doesn't gel with Manny's.

It all depends on how Mayweather fights. I think he'll do a Marquez and not engage or play with fire. The fight will be a disapointment.

Manny still won even with a counter puncher,

it will be the same with Floyd

I agree with the sentiment of this post.

One thought does occur to me though and that is that Freddie Roach took a past best ODLH and gave him a game plan that took the fight to a SD with PBF.

Maybe Roach knows how to beat PBF and will devise a plan for Pac to execute

Of course Pac stands a chance against Floyd.

While JMM and Floyd are both counterpunchers, they don't employ their craft the same way. JMM tries to take your head off with his counters and is willing to fire combos off the counter and get into firefights. Floyd isn't trying to blast anyone out with his counters. He fires them as arm punches for quick delivery and bugs out. Floyd will never slug it out with anyone and that mindset makes him a very different opponent than Marquez.

pac needs to be more patient. he trys to thrill the crowd too much and looked desperate at times last night. apart from that he didnt have a complete mare and this does not neccessarily mean mayweather would win but it would make him the favourite

Jmm should not take a 4th fight with Pac unless he gets 50%, because he will definitely get Rob again, so he may as well get paid...

I dont know what you mean by gel. they put on three great fights. if you mean his style gives manny trouble, I agree, and I feel like mayweather will elect to be the counterpuncher as well, but obviously to a much greater level than marquez, which in my opinion doesn't give manny much of a chance. you said styles make fights, and I feel like considering marquez's style against manny last night, manny wont have many options against floyd but to go on the attack and be countered all night.
