I realized this while watching the HBO broadcast. Pac would put up a high guard and Marquez would throw accurate left and right hooks to the body. Steward and Lampley just ignored it, mainly talking about Pac's speed and ****. These body shots by Marquez made him win edge out some rounds where neither was landing anything significant.
:yepPactards were saying before hand that Pacquiao was a different beast from the previous two fights. What did Nacho say? "A more refined and technical Pacquiao, benefits Marquez." Nacho was absolutely correct. Marquez dug left hooks to Pacquiao's body underneath his right hand attempts.:deal .......and us Marquez fans in this forum were saying, "the more technical exponents laid on the board, the more complicated it gets for Pacquiao and the more Marquez thrives." We were laughed at.:nut......and the end result was Pacquiao looking more confused and frustrated than he did his previous two fights with Marquez.:yep You dont match x's and o's with a master boxer for God's sake. Our warnings went on deaf ears to anyone that bought into the Manny Pacquiao hype machine that he was now a complete two fisted fighter.:deal
Unfortunately you're 100% correct. Body shots get ignored, and volume is preferred over clean, effective punching.
somewhere in that fight if you watch it, lampley complimented jmm for a good bodyshot that appeared below the beltline....funny thing is, jmm stuck his glove out to tap manny's as if to say sorry for that. :conf
How many lowblows did Marquez land in the fight. That shot you talk about was a hair below, and Marquez being the class that he is, reached out with his glove to Pac to signal "I'm sorry." .......but go ahead ******* and paint a picture that Marquez body shots went below the belt.nut:nut
He went to the body early and often. He was visibly hurting Pac with his left hooks to the hip and is the main reason Pac did not just bum rush him. Every time Pac did his lunging jab jab left hand motion Marquez just slipped the first shot and hooked his right side.
It was the other way round in the UK. That's the UK mentality always go with the underdog. Marquez was getting props for every punch he threw whereas when Manny landed anything there was total silence.
The best/worst part of the fight was the fifth round when Lampley was having an on air orgasm about Pac's footwork while Marquez was landing clean combos that they all completely ignored. The whole thing was a farce.
