Khan vs JMM at 140????

Laz, he cant jab, has a bit of quit in him and is vulnerable to straight punches, because he cant punch straight himself.

as long as Khan uses lateral movement (and that doesnt mean side stepping in circles as Khan has started to do), jabs and doesnt engage when Ortiz has his feet set, he would discourage him in 6 and if he really put it on him, stop him late

 

Granted, Khan isn't a defensive wizard, but his legs are good enough for him to either evade Ortiz' shots or at least catch them on the lesser end of the swing.

Khan would be well served establishing his jab and working the body, and then firing lead rights every once in a while.

If you keep something in Victor's face he's far less effective, and isn't great at countering either.

The best way to get to Khan is draw some leads, which are sloppy at times, then fire in the overhand right and bring the uppercut into play.

It's why I'd favour Marquez to stop Amir, and Khan to defeat Ortiz with relative ease.

 

He's not, but he's still a 140 pounder, which Ortiz also was, and in comparison, Ortiz is a much harder puncher.

I'm not saying Khan wouldn't do good! Technically, I think Khan wipes the floor with Ortiz. My point here should have been here is that Ortiz's power would be the equalizer here and with Khan's leaky defence, I don't see him not being able to land. Hell, he got some good shots in on Mayweather at points.

Anyways, Maidana's not a bigger puncher than Ortiz in the slightest, he's the most overrated puncher in the entire sport. Even ignoring the Morales fight, he hit DeMarcus Corley around for 12 rounds and couldn't even put him down, DeMarcus Corley for crying out loud, a guy Mathysse dropped nine times(albeit about four of them weren't really legitimate).

 

Ortiz has dropped every single opponent he has faced apart from Mayweather. Ortiz has explosive power that can knock you down but he is a poor finisher.

Before this weekends fight I would have picked Khan to beat Marquez at 140 lbs.

But if Khan were to fight in a similar manor Marquez would win comfortably. He was able to take away the speed of Pacquiao by simply taking a step back and moving to the side. This left Manny constantly falling short. Khan at the best of times falls short and finds himself in nomansland off balance, it's only that the opposition he's faced haven't been cute enough to counter. I can see Marquez having a field day everytime Khan throws the right hand.

The main weapon for Khan against Marquez would be his reach and jab that would IMO cause Marquez problems. If he can establish the jab early and stop Marquez getting a rhythm going he may start to find the range to land with the right hand.

 

If he was one of the hardest punchers in boxing you think they'd stay down.
