Hopefully the exposure Fury is getting will persuade people to sign with him, Fat Mick failed Froch but he has a big chance to turn Fury and Eubank jr into huge stars in this country, sadly if there's one promoter i would back to balls up such a chance it would be him.

You've got a point, but they could try and build someone else. Start hyping someone and get him some sort of title. They should just feed Fury unknowns with good records for as long as they possibly can and keep getting Eubank out. Boxing needs the exposure.

I'm surprised these numbers are so good. I didn't see much excitement for the bout in the week or two before it. I saw Fury a couple of times on North West tonight but I didn't think the media appearances would be anywhere near enough to secure big figures. Impressive though.

Boxing is like jazz. The better it is the less people appreciate it.

Boxing's a pretty weird sport. most men like watching it but then most men never actually bother to.

If all the big fights were on terrestrial TV and it got more coverage it'd probably be really popular.

Same sort of thing happens with people I know who are not usually into Boxing. An example when Tyson Fury was fighting on Saturday there were plenty of statuses about him on my Facebook newsfeed.

Like someone says aslong as they know who the main man is i.e. Tyson Fury, they don't care who he is fighting aslong as it is good to watch.

think people are being a bit too pessimistic. there's a number of things here
if these figures are correct (and i have to say i have my dounts, as eubank is known to be rather prone to over hyping things!) then they are stunning for channel 5. they and hennessy will be extra careful to get fury the right fight and to start bringing eubank on.
even if fury were to lose next time out there is still the possibility of interesting fights against chisora price and audrey. if he fights every couple of months we're looking at 6 months down the line, which presumably is about the time eubank will be going for area titles, which makes for a meaningful fight.
hennessy has got kid galahad - he would be well worth introducing ,imho, to a wider audience- sold as the new prince hamed or bomber graham he'll get the casuals interested
if these viewing figures continue and other boxers see the coverage, exposure and popularity that fury and eubank are getting i suspect that some of them are going to want a part of it.some of the british champs who feel they are not getting the kudos (theophane springs to mind) might want to jump ship.
the other point is that in12 months time the olympics will have finished and 1 or 2 of those lads might be wanting to turn pro - millions will have seen them on the beeb fighting so 1 or 2 of those going with hennessy/channel 5 would raise a great deal of interest

good points there fella,it's not just me getting the feeling audley will be back with a big splash soon on channel 5??

a few well placed media press releases from a force and a suitably spiteful retort from fury will whip this fight up for the non hardcore fans a treat!

Even my mum and dad tuned in to channel 5 to watch the fight, and thought it was thoroughly entertaining, although my mum tells says that she also thought they stopped the fight too early. so there you have it... coming from a non boxing fan.
