Pac - JMM III - What fight were you watching?

Marquez looked better but Pacquiao got busier. I scored it 115-113 Pacquiao and I that's coming from someone with a strong bias for Marquez.

 

Compu-box did exaggerate landed punches, but they did so for both fighters.

Using your round 12 example, I counted 6-8 clean shots for Pac and maybe 2 or 3 for JMM.

This fight was very much a defensive fight in which BOTH guys maneuvered and slipped punches that the commentators and crowd were reacting to as cleanly landed shots.

That said, Pac still threw and landed more real punches than JMM regardless if he was credited for out throwing and landing JMM in fake ones.

 

117-111 and I gave all the close rounds to Pac.

I could maybe stretch to 116-112 but thats really pushing it.

 

I was there. The crowd didn't START pro-Marquez. It was slightly in favor of Pacquiao. It BECAME pro-Marquez because Marquez was winning round after round.

In-between rounds they show highlights of the round on the giant screen above the ring - the best punches landed during the preceeding round. In every single round except one, the best punches landed, and therefore shown between rounds were by Marquez.

It's always different on TV when there's commentary and different camera angles, but watching it live from pretty good seats, Pacquiao won no more than four rounds. And I was generous with that fourth round because the 12th could have gone either way.

I don't understand the argument giving Pacquiao the edge in rounds for "ring generalship". "Ring generalship" is controlling the pace and movement of the rounds. It's being able to cut off the ring, being able to control spacing and distance, and making the opponent unable to mount an effective offense or defence because of your mastery of the ring's real estate. It's simplistic and incorrect to just say that the boxer moving forward is the ring general. You look at the pacing and movement of those rounds and you tell me that the pace, distance and range didn't favor all Marquez. They were all clearly Marquez-style rounds. Marquez was the greater ring general.

I thought this was Marquez' best performance of the three fights against Pacquiao, which is what makes the result sad. There's no point in a fourth fight IMO - if Marquez can't win a decision fighting a virtually perfect game plan, it's clear he's never going to beat him.

 

I guess that's what the judges just did. Hence the win for Pacquiao.

And there is the onion. Compubox is usually wrong for both. I saw what you saw. Pac landed far more punches in an otherwise boring round than Marquez.

Dip**** went and counted Pac while ignoring Marquez. That is called confirmation bias.

 

The 12th round I had Pacquiao winning handily up until the twelfth. I think Pac still edges it, but it's not clear because Marquez comes forward to hit back with a combination through his guard towards the end after landing just a few punches earlier, and it may justify giving it to him.

 

JMM actually gave the fight away.

He could have won it if he did not play safe the last 3 rounds.

He was ahead or even on almost all scorecards of the judges but Nacho was misinformed that he was leading by wide margin.

Scores of 114-114, 115-113, were pretty much up for grabs if JMM took the initiative. The 116-112 scorecard is dubious but then again, it was more probably because of boxing politics.

Case in point, the 114 -114 scorecard was actually 94-96 after 10 rounds in favor of Marquez. The 115-113 was dead even after 9 rounds.

 

Pacquiao got outboxed and the fight wasnt even close. Marquez landed with great accuracy and Pacquiao was wild once again. marquez did all the body punching, **** wasnt close bro.

 

He didnt play it safe the l;ast 3 rounds. I thought he won the 11th round and the 12th round was very close

 

that is counter punchers, the safety first before risk will not be rewarded.
