WBA light-heavyweight champion Beibut Shumenov insists he has had no official approach from world title rival Nathan Cleverly about a unification showdown.
WBO title-holder Cleverly wants a unification fight with Shumenov, while IBF belt holder Tavoris Cloud is another 175lb option.
"I've heard that Cleverly and Cloud have mentioned my name," said Shumenov.
"But, truth be told, we have never been contacted by either one of their promoters to unify."
Shumenov has defended his WBA world crown on three occasions and the 28-year-old from Kazakhstan wants to unify the division.
"I want to fight the best to be considered the best 175-pounder in the world," he said.
"All of these guys talking about unifying. Well, if they really want to make it happen all they have to do is contact us.
"I told [IBO champion Jean] Pascal that I'm from Kazakhstan, he lives in Canada; so, we should fight in the capital of boxing, Las Vegas. Same goes for Cleverly, who is from the United Kingdom.

Cleverly needs to continue fighting these kind of fighters. Fighters who cooperate with his style, cause aint no way he's hanging on his title if he steps in the ring with someone like Sillakh. Those two are worlds apart.

Cleverly needs to do himself a favour and find himself a proper trainer to work on his defense and fundamentals, cause his heart is only gonna take him so far before it starts losing him fights instead of winning them.

The reason why they mention Cleverly to unify with is as clear as day...
He won't make it easy for Shumenov though.

Cleverly V Shumenov wouldn't get anywhere near the interest to be held in Vegas, surely only the UK is sensible financially

One of the belt holders that I think Cleverly could beat. Good fight.

Beibut (from what I've seen of him) looks pretty good, won the belt in his tenth fight.

No chance this fight sells in Vegas. Wales would be the sensible option.

Seems like the sensible option for Cleverly.

Would need to raise his game to beat Shumenov though.

I'd be confident in Cleverly beating Shumenov, but neither of them could be a challenge to the big boys at LHW.

Wario should push for this fight.. Cleqverly wins easy. Bellew could actually whip Shumenov and have a millennium stadium unification. Either would be great. Im thinking the second one most likely though.

Could be held in Vegas if on a Hopkins undercard maybe, but not as a main event.

And Frank is hardly like to send Clev off to be on somebodies undercard.

    Very difficult for Clev.
