This question is not specifically to the Mexicans, or Mexican Americans, but you all come to mind when I think of this.

Do you all support the majority of your fighters just because of the nationality? There's a ton of orgullo and that's obvious in your culture from seeing fights featuring Mexicans. Even after the Margarito loaded gloves controversy, is he still well loved by his own people? I already see some of the Mexican Americans like Ortiz, Rios, Guerrero, etc, don't get the love of Barrera, Marquez, Morales, etc, and that's understandable.

But I know its normal to support one of your own, but you all can see that even Cintron doesn't get a ton of love from boricuas and even Cotto has some that don't seem to ride for him, but I've seen Filipinos not seem to care for Pac-man too, and some blacks not rollin with Mayweather Jr. But if there is a Mexican fighter, doesn't matter who, fighting against any non Mexican, will you pick the Mexican guy to win?

I have never seen a black american not rep for mayweather. but most countries ride for their own for the most part.

I know a lot of them. Remember when Manny Steward was Mayweather's biggest critic?

I will root for any Mexican or Mexican-American against most but that is not always the case. I was rooting for Victor Ortiz against Berto but not against Mayweather.

I was also rooting for Valero against Demarco.
I was rooting for Mayweather against Marquez.

I did root for Rubio against Lemieux. I will always support Chavez Jr. and Canelo.

Its complicated lol I think many issues come up besides nationality.

Michael Wilbon (ESPN) and Stephen A. Smith even took some shots at him before...not recently but between the Mosely fight and Ortiz fight, Stephen A had plenty of not so nice things to say about Floyd.

Usually most of mexicans go with the mexican of course because of nationality. I don´t remember wanting a mexican getting his ass kicked...

Barrera, Morales, Arce etc, stand above because they show courage in fights and thats what mexicans love to see, they love to see the bravery and guts in a brawl. Having a couple of this fights make you well loved in México.

I love the sport of boxing and don't only root for Mexicans. I could never stand Fernando Vargas ( kinda like I can't stand Brandon Rios ) additude and rooted against him against Tito. Yeah I got a lot of crap from my peeps for that, so what I can take it, what am I suppose to be a lemming? Just like when I went to the Tszyu vs Ruelas, I was one of the only Mexican rooting for Kostya. What a massacre that was.

Not all Mexicans are biased my friend. But I do admit when I first started following the sport, I was. That all changed as I started boxing a little myself and matured. :good

This is how it is. In Mexico, most of the people don't even know Margarito's hand wraps deal. I'm guessing Arum and company want to keep that on wraps. Jk. On the down low. Anyways of course they route for the Mexican fighter, one -f the few countries that treat them like celebrities. Gotta remember its a nation with alot of warrior tradition. If the majority did know about Margaritos deal I dont think hed be liked. Also, he wasnt that popular prior to Cotto. He mght of been popular in Tijuana and Cali, butnot like Barrera or Morales were. When Pacquiao wasn't fighting Mexicans you can bet they routing for Pacquiao. Before I know because of his style they might of picked him over Floyd, but I know many Mexican Americans that are *****s and appreciate his style more than the Mexican style.

One of my friends married a mex woman and her brother had to be one of the most racist pieces of you know what on earth. But I know a lot of old school guys are like that too. Theres a bunch of old school ricans that are the same way.
