We live in emotionally-deprived society. Our kids have Playstation 3, Xbox 360 as their constant companion.

So when their boxer does not get the nod, they cry a lot. In the wonderyears, it is just a fight. Nothing more, nothing less. Today, they invest their emotions to certain personality bordering on cult worship that when their fighter losses, it is a big letdown.

For the haters of the best boxers out there today, a sub-par performance against an opponent previewed as easy or given those expectations, will be treated like a defeat. We see it in other sports as well. Unlike other sports, boxers have to wait a much longer time in between performances to redeem themselves.

 

Same here John, i was sat right by where they came out section 119, row J aisle seat & a great view. But like you it looked like JMM had done enough & i had my head in my hands when buffer read out the scores & like the hypercrite i am i breathed a sigh of relief "PHEW" when it went pacs way. I though at the end of the 9th pac needed a knockout, I have about 200+ signed pac photo's & posters that i supply over here & all that went through my mind was the $$$$ write down:yikes

I felt so sorry for JMM as he went passed me as i'am a massive fan of his. But objectivly as we know when watching a fight live in an arena we are all human & are part of the crowd & can without realising it be swayed by the said momentum of crowd reponces to shots landed or not. I never thought for a moment that Pac would dominate or KO marquez as most younger folk did as to me this was just rounds 25/36 & it would be a split-em again. I think because of the expectations on Pac to demolish JMM it went much like the Leonard/Hearns fight in the public eye in that JMM was still there after every round & that gave the impression he was doing better than he actually was in reality.

Like you i've just watched the fight on DVD & beside the shocking UK "primetime" commentary which i shutdown after 4 rounds & when back to the start & then procceded to watch the fight with the volume down & what a different outlook this has given me on the fight. Most of those shots from JMM i thought had landed & brought the very-pro Marquez crowd to it's feet actually missed by a street time & time again. I think using the SRL/Hagler example is apt here as the more JMM stayed in the fight it was perceived that he was winning it just by being there if yer get me drift!!!

On 1st time of viewing i had Manny up by 1/2 points although some rounds are a pick-em it most definetly was not the robbery it's been made out to be. To much expectation is now being put onto pac & justaposed by the fact the majority of the public now **** all about the sport & follow the leads of commentators & scribes who have their own agenda have been given the impression that JJM was hard done by. For me after watching the tape it's obvious that in fact JMM blew it by not going all out in those last 4 rounds & putting beyond doubt any decision.

He did'nt land enough or innitiate the action for long enough periods. Sure he made pac look clumsy but he always would if they fought a 100 times. But i'am more concerned with manny & his approach to this fight in & out. it was a mosley MK2 for me. This is not the Pac of the Cotto fight or Margarito, i feel that the Margo fight may have damaged pac a little bit more than we realise juxtaposed with the massive commitments he has outside the ring & now building up into what could be a disaster waiting to happen & sooner than we think. We've seen it all before, lets take Tyson/Douglas as an example!!!

I got into Vegas on the tuesday & popped into the Manderlay Bay but i hate that ****in place. I wanted to show me mug but you know how it is there!!! Pacquiao lost in many peoples eyes John. To this day Pacquiao fans believe Floyd lost to Castillo without even seeing the fight. Floyd clearly won, but because he got hit, he was turned human by his haters just as Pacquiao was.

Pacquiao got out boxed, and a bad decision was given. True fans don't hate Pacquiao. These fans now know that Arums hate campaign for Floyd was deep, and that fans now know that Pacquiao was never better than Floyd. You go from agreeing to testing to fight number 4 with Marquez? Wtf

 

*******s are the best at making excuses. Back then you ***gots said marquez got dropped by a weight drained pac and he would surely get knocked out against the new improved pac. I would give pacquiao his props if he manned the **** up and said i wasnt at my best theres certain things i need to work on.Instead he makes excuses about being weight drained, having blood drawn wearing the wrong socks the wrong gloves, leg cramps.How can you defend this ****? I think Arum really just hates Floyd, and Arum's hate for FMJ may have gone back to FMJ vs Oscar. Because Floyd left Arum before that fight, and Arum ended up making pretty much nothing there. And then Arum also hated De La Hoya for also leaving, and then there's the whole GBP thing that must have stung too. As far as I can remember, the last co-promoted TR-GBP fight at all was Pac-Hatton more than 2 years ago.

 

"I clearly won the fight" comment is ****ed up but pac is still classier than most boxers around. Guess he cant please everyone.

I dont really expect anything less from those that criticize him.

One thing il say though a 126-130 fighter going against welterweights is one hell of a cherry pick. You dont see that happen very often, and also before pac and mar III did you really know that pac never improved(same skills and talent when he was at the lower weights)? if so i have to say respect, you really do know your craft.
