First of all I agree with the TKO in this and Calzaghe fights did i like it no, not conclusive fight coulda went on but Manfredo did it to himself and i think he knew it too me and the ppl i watched with for 10 ore 15 seconds were screaming take a ****in knee or grab on or something i mean he was not out or done but he didnt give Cole a reason to continue shame of it all was Manfredo was turning the tide a little getting hit less and landing more
For someone as experienced as Manfredo he really does not have a clue how to react when he's hurt, in fact it's very amateurish what he does when shook up, in both tonight and the Bika fight he was trying to be all elusive and make his man miss when he was out on his feet, why not just take a knee, take the 8 count and let your head clear?
you think he woulda learned after the Calzaghe fight i yelled take a ****ing knee during the Canelo Gomez fight very similar stoppage too but gomez seemed more hurt
The Calzaghe one was a proper joke, to be fair. Forward to 4:15. This Chavez Jr one is a far more legit stoppage. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2E6sGjNGo4[/ame]
it doesnt seem that different to me The rally is about as long the same amount of unanswered shots and Manfredo does kinda bend down poor body language makes him seem more hurt than he is he shoulda took the knee or held on im just shocked he let the same fate play out again
Manfredo was doing better against Chavez jr than Calzaghe though, Against Calzaghe Manfredo just froze into one spot and covered up and never pushed calzaghe onto the backfoot against chavez he managed to slip away at times and use some footwork and actually pushed chavez back prior to the stoppage. When a guy is just standing in a corner not throwing anything back and taking so many un answered punches then it is a legitimate stoppage, so niether fight can really be called a joke
Different to me because he had been caught with a bomb by Chavez Jr. and was trying to get his legs back under him. He was in danger. With Calzaghe, he just had no answer for the piles of slaps reigning down on him, but he wasn't hurt, and was in no real danger of getting seriously injured. I agree about him not knowing what to do, and letting it end the same way. Although, in this fight, he was actively evading, and then tried to clinch, whereas against Calzaghe he simply turtled up if I remember right.
He was doing much better against JCC than JC. He had no business being in there with Calzaghe anyway, it wasn't really a winnable fight for Manfredo. But I also despise the argument that since he would have lost that it was OK to pull the plug like that. That was the guys big shot. Either way, I thought both stoppages were early, although last nite's was acceptable.
He was pinned against the rope taking god knows how many un answered shots, yeah if i was the ref i wouldnt have stopped the fight but the fact is when a fighter isnot doing anything except soaking up punches then its acceptable to stop the fight, and for the record im a fan of Manfredo
I hear you. It didn't seem like all that many of those shots were landing though. Calzaghe just threw as much leather as he could(and it was alot) and that ref obliged him. The big point to me was that he wasn't hurt......at all.
