Can you guys enlighten me why marquez is being considered as an ATG? I mean he's a sure fire HOF but not ATG. If you look at his resume, it really sucks coz he's talented but he didn't take risks especially after he fought pacman the 1st time. He cherry picked all his opponents to preserve and not jeopardize a pacquiao rematch. That is evident after his 2nd fight with manny. He fought casa-diaz twice-katsidis-ramos (floyd - his stock was not affected coz it's a BS fight). - he refused to fight rios, soto, morales, khan, judah etc. - he's 0-2-1 against pac - his best win was against a past prime barrera other than that his resume really sucks.
Pathetic, just pathetic but your avatar picture showcasing Pacquiao tells us where you're coming from.
Top 10 wins Marco Antonio Barrera - past prime Juan Diaz - class b part time boxer/student Joel Casamayor - ancient version Michael Katsidis - bum Victor Polo Orlando Salido Derrick Gainer Manuel Medina Rocky Juarez Robbie Peden
I disagree... there's no talk of Marquez being anywhere near the top 20 or 30 on the ATG . In fact, I very rarely hear his name come up at all when all time greats are mentioned. He's usually mentioned as one of the top current pound for pound boxers in the world... a deserved and appropriate rating.
My turn MAB - distracted by divorce Cotto - weight drained and damaged goods Marquez - lost Morales - past prime and weight drained Hatton - shot this is too ridiculous
Pacquiao is more overrated than Marquez. He's widely considered one of the best fighters ever. Not talking about greatness or accomplishments here, but ability. A ton of fans rate him extremely high, but he couldn't even separate himself from a 38 year old Marquez at welterweight. Nothing against Marquez, who was great at his peak, but he's not a great welterweight. Not even close to it.
