Protein in protein shakes is derived from milk though isn't it? or is there some kind of Vegan/soya variety. can't be assed to google it.

If he doesn't consume milk/meat/fish then soya/beans/wholewheat/nuts. It certainly doesn't look like it's hurt him physically does it?

Asked him that before and he said Quinoa was his main source of protein during camp.

Beans, nuts, faux meats (derived from wheat or soy), protein shakes (rice or soy protein I am assuming). I remember his doctor was saying that his vegan diet is good for boxing because of the 3 minute rounds. (As we all know carbs provide short term energy).

Hemp seeds are 34% protein with a better ratio of usable amino acids than animal proteins, except raw eggs.

When you heat protein, amino acid availability goes down by 40 - 50%. Gorillas build huge muscle mass and have the strenght of a 4000 pound bench press on a diet of 80% green leaves, but of course all raw. Many deficiencies in nutrition are functional, you can load up of protein and be deficient the use of protein.
