Boxing isn't a charity. I watch it and invite my friends and family to watch it with me but not because I want to promote boxing, but because I like doing things with my friends and family.

IMO alot of people especially hardcore boxing fans give the other cheek to it's little bro, MMA, but I think at the sametime alot of MMA fans have become boxing fans and have shown more interest to it now if they didn't before. In one of the gyms I used to go to, there were only 3-5 boxing oriented aficionados at the most every time I'd go sweat it out compared to 50+ students in an MMA class. Since we'd workout side by side, there was an interest in each other's sports and you start learning interesting stuff about one another and start helping each other out. So I think MMA indirectly has helped immensely in preserving and the mainstream have alittle bit more interest in what once was one of America's top 3 sports.

Most of my freinds are only very casual boxing fans who really only know the big names like Mayweather, Pacquiao, Cotto etc. .. I do my best to help gain interest by making youtube vids and I have a facebook group sports page where I post full fights and try to discuss boxing regularly.

absolutely agreed. after the pac-marquez fight i have been completely turned of with going to a bar and watching these big fights that catches the eyes of casual fans. it was literally like talking boxing to a dog. imagine a bar full of skip baylless and stephen smith or whatever their names are on espn who think they know boxing.
