i dont mind it tbh...i just leave the tv on in the background and get on with other stuff until the fights come on. not sure if i'll be subscribing straight away with possibly one good card in December (in the middle of the night) and then possibly **** all happening in Jan
True, main thing boxing needs to do is have less weight divisions as it dilutues the competition. If you make it harder, fighters will train harder. Tough, exciting matchups on a constant is good for the sport. One of the reasons MMA is so popular is the best fight the best, now imagine this with boxing which has a deeper pool of talent.
Agreed especially when you can watch a premiership match for 20-25 quid I have been to some really small hall shows with not much of a main event and still been charged 30-50quid (needless to say I dont go anymore) :-(
32 rounds of boxing took three hours and sixteen minutes from going live to air until the reading of the cards for the main event. 32 x 4 (allowing three minutes for each round and a minute of stool time between) = 128. Add a couple minutes for all four bouts for intros/decision announcements. 128 + 8 = 136. Two hours and sixteen minutes. What's that whole extra hour all about? Say what you will about SKY; they're succinct and keep to schedule. :yep You can at least plan your day around their time slots, rather than this open-ended "I guess I'll just keep this whole four hour block open in the hope that there's more than two hours' worth of actual action..." stuff. I do mostly like the cards BoxNation has chosen to put on, and their commitment to showing a bit more of the undercard than usual...but they still haven't convinced me that SS1 has yet been supplanted as the go-to source for British boxing.
Didnt see last night but in general Ive enjoyed the analysis around the fights, particularly the big American cards.
The big problem with undercards is it is mostly a prospect fighting a journeyman with a 3(1) 18(3) 2 record. Exciting...
I'm taking my daughter to watch the Rovers get beaten by Watford this afternoon. With all things taken into consideration that will cost me £60 minimum just to walk away after 2 hours absolutely gutted....again. :?
Its been that way for a hundred years, up and comers learning their trade against seasoned journeymen. Not every fight can be a Pac - Marquez.....Some of the best fights I've seen have been way down on the undercard
Put it on record and then start watching it an hour after the coverage starts and fast forward the bits you don't want to watch.
