Hopkins took his soul. While he schooled Pavlik and Pascal, he mentally destroyed Trinidad. Pavlik was in his own way of recovering, and we'll see how Pascal does, though I should think he'll be fine.

Rafael Ruelas:IBF lightweight champ was knocked out in 2 by a left hook in a unification battle with De La Hoya, never became champ again.
Alex Garcia: Top ranked contender at heavyweight refused a fight for the title against Holyfield because it was too early in his career. He fought journeyman Dixon next and was knocked out.Lost a lot of fights after that and blew his multi milliondollar payday.

    Miranda after Pavlik

Cotto after Margarito but a second beating from Pacqiao put him in a real funk

    Brilliant choice.

Michael Spinks can be considered too.

Jermain Taylor's career was manouvered into him being the MW champion of the world, HBO were trying to enginere a new American face of Boxing, once the Pavlik fights happened, and the Lacey fight showed his flaws, stamina wise, they wanted nothing to do with him. It's been down and down since.

First one I thought of was Roy Jones, if you grew up in my era then Tarvers left hand is embedded in your memory, if you grew up 20-25 years before that, then Tyson should be your answer, once Douglas had run through him.

And I forgot Zab Judah! From certain P4P future megastar, Pernell Whittiker with power, to tempermental, mentally flawed, title holder.

Clottey went from fighting Pacquiao on a major PPV to fighting on a none televised undercard recently...

Clearly the most glaring example in recent years.
