You mean the Silva that already agreed to Sonnen getting a rematch he didn't deserve only for Chael to lose that rematch after pissing hot? Yeah...of course he's avoiding the fight.
dont know really but i dont think anderson is scared of anyone but it is pretty obvious that he is avoiding the sonnen fight.
Unless Sonnen has really done some work tightening up his TDD he will always be in danger. I think Silva would rather fight other people surely, but I don't think he is afraid of anyone. How can anyone get to that level with fear of another fighter?
Because Chael's submission defense is his biggest weakness and he also has brain farts. If Anderson had the edge in the stylistic match-up and was capable of submitting Sonnen whenever he wanted it wouldn't have taken him four and a half rounds to do so. Anderson has the ability to end a fight standing on a moment's notice against anyone but he's not a submission god and it would be stupidity to expect him to pull that off against Sonnen again. Sonnen's defense sucks but he's not clueless, Silva isn't Marcelo Garcia, and what you saw for the first four rounds is a far likelier outcome for the rematch than the ending stanza.
Silva said he did not want to fight Sonnen again becuase he didn't deserve another shot. Dana said Sonnen would be his next fight, shortly after Anderson get's injured and will be out till summer 2012. Alot of people seen that coming not a big surprise, it's Anderson's way of saying don't make me fight someone I don't want to. So Sonnen-Munoz is now set up for January and if Sonnen wins he will get next shot anyhow....so Anderson can run but he can't hide.
Maybe you didn't see the fight, Forest is not Sonnen, Sonnen manhandled Silva for 4 and a half rounds. Silva has never been on the wrong end of a fight like that and he knows another fight with Sonnen will be the same. This time around should the fight happen Sonnen will be a little more carefull in the sub defense department which has been his arciles heel.
Because he's a top-3 p4p ATG, and to a certain extent, because he got lucky. If Chael doesn't have his number, why did he dominate the fight for 23 minutes? :hat
It's really a moot point. Silva doesn't have much of a choice when it comes to matchmaking. If Dana wants him to fight Sonnen, then he has to concede. I am sure Silva knows Sonnen will always be a tough opponent. Doesn't necessarily mean Silva is afraid of him. I think Silva's angle is: he's already beaten Chael and it doesn't make sense to grant the guy another title shot soon especially when Chael is coming off a suspension for cheating. If Chael fights and beats Munoz I definitely think Sonnen has earned his way back to a title shot though.
Chael beat the breaks off him...can you blame Anderson for not wanting that rematch? Come on, Chael is too good a wrestler for Anderson to look good against. He could win again via sub but he'll take a mauling up to that point. Besides Anderson himself, I don't think the UFC really want that; they want Anderson to look invincible, and against most fighters he will (and pretty much is)
He's still on them, the only difference being that the commission now has the paperwork to approve him to be on TRT. Secondly, he didn't need increased strength to dump Silva on his ass. He's a world-class wrestler and Silva's takedown defense has been questionable since day one. He's a bad match-up for Silva, Silva knows it, and he's doing whatever he can to avoid losing his title to someone that has **** on him as much as Sonnen has.
