blistering hand speed, good defensive reflexes and he puts the combos together very well too. I'll certainly be keeping my eye on his career.

 

I think he would beat gamboa with a few more fights under his belt.

 

real G's don't call out guys coming off of two knockout losses.

i like russell....but i need to see him in there with a live opponent....not another sacrificial lamb. they aren't doing him any favors by letting him feast on mediocre opposition. he needs fights that will help him develop further and step of his performance level....so that when he does face a legit opponent he won't end up like jacobs against pirog.

I'm on board, him and Rigo are probably my two fighters I'm most interested in right now.

 

But 10 months on and still waiting for him to take on something with a pulse.

If promoters/management truly believed he was as good as thread starter think s he is they would of stepped up his completion a long time ago IMO

i do see russell jr as the future, but i don't think he is someone who will remain undefeated like floyd, i feel he will lose and win against the best. he is a very small featherweight, his reach is between 61' to 63' depending on what you read, for that reason i see him at 126 and 130 for his entire career as he simply does not have the reach to compete with the bigger guys. once his legacy has been semented he will be mentioned in the same sentence as other great featherweights such as morales, barrera, marquez and pacquiao.

people see russell jr vs gamboa as a mega fight, but give it 2 years and if gary is still campaigning at featherweight, and abner mares moves up from 122 after he cleans out the division then that would be a huge fight, on the scale of floyd vs oscar.

 

The dude has a bright future ahead of him...Looking foward to his next fight.

 

That kid looked 14
