    This reminds me of threads I see in the Lounge with people saying "well nobody goes to the movies by themselves, that's OUTRAGEOUS!"

    Not everybody does all their activities with a bunch of friends, or sleeps twenty in a bed Pacquiao style.

    Not everybody has or even wants a bunch of friends.

    I think people who do, underestimate just how many perfectly content loners there are out there.

    Great rematch of a great first bout i get the idea Rodriguez takes it this time
    Mike Jones vs. Sebastian Lujan - 12 rounds @ welterweight for IBF #1 contender spot good fight not sure about how it plays out but id love to see jones vs Bailey

    ill probably just go to the near by Buffalo Wild Wings or Apple Bees who are almost certainly going to show it

    I think this is true for most of us on the board, actually.

    As to people not watching sporting events alone - sure, the average person probably has a buddy or two over to watch whatever local team their clique happens to follow religiously; be it NHL, MLB, NFL, NBA, MLS, whatever...and will maybe gather in the living room of a relative or friend for something like the super bowl...and of course in a sports bar (often for playoffs) you get big crowds of mostly strangers, a few friends... but to say that people don't watch major sporting events alone - especially major events in a fringe sport such as boxing - is very puzzling. :?

    I think MOST people who watch boxing do so alone, or with their girlfriend half asleep on the couch behind them. :yep

    I know there are some, but the majority watch it in groups. Doesn't have 5-10 people, but more than 1. Let's put it this way, there are way more people who watch in groups than those who watch it by themselves, not that there is anything wrong with that.

    I can understand your situation. You are probably white right? I don't mean sound racist, but it's almost impossible to be Mexican and not have atleast 10 people around you who are boxing fans. The white boxing community has lost many fans to MMA in recent years.

    Are you originally from Mexico? I think boxing is still much more part of the social culture down there.

    It's hard for me to envision Georgia as some hidden wellspring of pugilism buffs - but, is it that way?

    Even here in Boston - which is SOAKED in boxing tradition - I'd say maybe less than 0.0002% of the population knows even the most rudimentary of **** about boxing.

    It's a long-faded sport. Maybe not in places like Mexico. Here in the Estados Unitas, though - it's the opposite of what it was 70 years ago. It used to be if you threw a pebble you'd hit a boxing fan (or at least someone who knew the names of all the current champions).

    Now you can detonate a nuke in the center of any major city, and there will be no casualties who've heard of anybody besides Ali & Tyson.

    I was born in Mexico, but was raised here since age 3, although my parents raised me and my siblings under Mexican culture and customs.

    There is a very large concentration of Mexicans here in Georgia and the majority are boxing fans. Not all of them are hardcore fans, but anytime there is a big name Mexican fighter, you can bet that all the bars are packed and houses all over the city packed with relatives and friends watching the fight.

    It isn't just Georgia though. I don't think you are aware of this, but there are a bunch of Mexican people scattered all over the US.:D It would be idiotic to say that ALL Mexicans here or even in Mexico watch boxing, but the great majority do.

    It is sad that a city like Boston has lost so much boxing wise.

    I will be paying for this PPV really great fights from top to bottom. Here in So Cal there are tons of boxing fans. Even people who I would never have thought. Many women too...

    There are definitely Mexicans here (they are after all the #1 group of immigrants) but they're kind of scattered. I can't think of an area that's known for a "big Mexican community". Nah, it's more about the Brazilian community - which is massive - and the Puerto Ricans. Even the boricuas around here, though :verysad - if I bring up the name "Cotto" or "Calderon" they give me blank looks. "Tito Trinidad", and they perk up - but that's about it. :conf
