So, the rumor has been going around that instead of fighting Manny Pacquiao on May 5, 2012, Floyd Mayweather, Jr. -- for whatever reason, and no matter who is supposedly to blame -- may end up fighting Erik Morales instead.

The rumor has been pushed out there before, and it is mentioned in the following piece as well:

So, the question for the thread is simple:

Would you purchase a pay-per-view event with Floyd Mayweather, Jr. versus Erik Morales as the main event?

As much as I respect Morales as a fighter, his best days seem behind him. Not to mention the apparent natural weight difference between Mayweather and Morales, which could make a potential fight even more lopsided.

    Your thoughts?

I can see why Mayweather would want this fight, he'd be defeating another Pac-beater besides Marquez, further cementing the notion that he doesnt even need to fight Pac to prove he's better

Morales is washed up, but he's always had tons of heart and still retains some of his skills as he proved against Maidana, so it's a fight i'd still like to watch

answering the question, I dont buy ppv's, i watch the fights in sport bars

I want to say I would because of Morales, but it's a terrible mismatch. I wouldn't support it or dish out 60 bucks to see it, although I would certainly watch it live via a stream. I'm pretty sure it'll never happen though. Mayweather will fight somebody performing at a higher level than Morales.

I would buy just because it is a Mayweather fight.

nah, i wouldn't pay for it. style matchup is all wrong. morales is old and has a ton of miles on him. maidana was perfect style for him. mayweather is the exact wrong style, plus the size disparity
