He'll be 35 come May. Taking a 19 and 16 month break respectively could hamper sharpness come fight night, especially considering he'll have boxed 3 full professional rounds in over 2 years.

Yeah this makes sense. It's just tough to believe the accumulated amount of time off wouldn't lead to ring rust and against a level of opponent he hasn't faced in years this could be a problem.

****in tuneups... How many tuneups does Floyd need. Either fight Pacquiao now or gtfo. The fight is past it's expiration date already.

That's the point of the thread really. The fact that Floyd may not be "tuned up" come fight night.

I dont think so. I used to think once his reflexes diminish he will be a lot more beatable, and whilst that might be true to a degree. Mayweather is so smart in the ring that I think he will just adapt his style to suit, like look how he's been fighting recently.

  6. i ve never seen any sign of ring rust. none whatsoever. did u watch his fights against marquez, mosley and ortiz? those were massacres. those guys have stayed active and he was all over them like stink on a bum. he looked sharper than all of them.

In Floyd's case this is very beneficial to him. You can't say that for all fighters tho.

well he was planning a knockout anyway so i doubt he cared about it going 12 rounds. but he did look dissapointed and worried to see ortiz not get back up. he knew alot of people would talk **** after that. he had a perfect opportunity to earn more respect then ortiz ends up quitting to make floyd look like the badguy
