Dorticos is going to get stopped as soon as he face a live body, the kid doesn't have any discipline, another Jorge L. Gonzalez in the work, and his friend Gonzalez ( the one that got beat up in sparring by Kirkland) too, they have talent but Bongo's is too much of a temptation...

 

The sad truth is that not all of our Cubans will succeed in the pros but is not because of lack of potential or talent but because of lack of dedication. In other words, if they had to fully dedicate themselves to succeed under the Cuban program then over here is the same thing. There's nothing guaranteed for them, yes some of them were solid boxers and stars over there but now they have to demonstrate the same here.

The exile is a double edged sword for them, some can't resist the crazy party lifestyle while others realize that they have to concentrate, keep focused and stay away from those temptations!

Does anyone know what happend to Yamplier (Yanqui) Diaz the heavyweight that KTF out of JC Gomez after his loss Samuel Peters his career took a deep spiral downwards. He is probably still in his mid thirties if he decides to come back.

 

He was lucky in the Gomez fight ... he fought several times thereafter, there is a fight with Samuel Peter in youtube. But just this fight shows his limitations as a heavyweight. Although he was able to connect several times in that fight, he had not the power to break Peter or stop the nigerian when he was comming forward. The outcome of that fight(ko loss) was the start of the end for him .... he has no faith in himself any longer ... forget him

 

Luis Franco fight seems off according to Boxrec. Too bad if so it was a final eliminator againstEscobedo to face IBF champ Dib

LOL that is funny as ****, like in cuba they dont have the same temptations.. honestly there are more things to do in cuba than in miami.... and what's a party lifestyle do everybody in miami lives partying all the time.. stop making excuses just admit that some arent as good in the pros as they were in the amateurs happens everywhere

So this month marks the 6 year anniversary of the first wave of Cuban boxers seeking freedom and opourtunity followed by 40 or so boxers seeking the same thing. This event was something that all of us Cuban boxing fans had been waiting for a long time and have been enjoying and will continue to enjoy for years to come. But in the last few years there have no more boxers coming. Is this because of the problems in Mexico (which was the way most of the more recent ones came) or the Cuban goverment treating the boxers better?
