reading through how most boxer train, ive found floyd is unique in how he trains

most pro successful fighters are training 5 or 6 times a week with one rest day

training maybe twice a day with running aswell

mayweather states he trains in the gym 3 times a day (in ortiz 24/7 anyway)

but reading some old interviews he appears to train only 3 days of the week

is it possible he gets in such great shape based on the fact he can absoltely destroy his body one day knowing he can rest the next day and therefore can train harder than anyone else but not burn himself out and overtrain

is this what gives him such great conditioning, that he is able to train 3 times and then rest a full day and resume training the next day

also, is there any other fighters who would apparently train whenever they felt like, e.g. calling their team to get down the gym at 1.30am to train

has any other fighter used this method of training or does floyd actually train everyday and is therefore just using 24/7 to make his training seem unique?

One thing that gives him an edge for sure is that he takes care of his body outside of the ring. You have never seen him walking around out of shape or with any fat on him. Just look at how he jumps rope and look at other videos of guys doing it. He trains like he is a poor starving fighter. Guys like Cotto get a little fat around them in between fights and you never hear about them being in the gym constantly when they don't have a fight lined up.

Floyd is super dedicated. Incidently, he got some of his training techniques from Nigel Benn. Believe it or not. Another fighter who use to train like a maniac.

In fairness, he was coming off a bulk/cutting steroid cycle, so he didn't know how his body would react, now he doesn't look like a malnourished Zab Judah.:lol:

Most worldchampion boxers train 3 times a day, even amateurs do it.
    In the morning running
forenoon and afternoon depends, sparring, mids, heavybag etc.

having the discipline to stay in top shape regularly is something to be admired. for me, i have to get away from distractions if i really want to get in top shape.
