What Would It Take For You To Give Up On Boxing?

    I doubt that I'd ever give up boxing but you never know, I gave up watching football after nearly 30 years. I can imagine there's a few people that bet on Chisora tonight and Marquez a few weeks ago that must be mightily pissed off right now.

    I guess I don't get outraged as much as some here because I stopped following modern boxing some time ago. When I watch now, it's an old fight on youtube. Amazing number of truly classic bouts there that would take forever to get through, so much to learn, that it still seems fresh even though the fights were fought in the past.

    Ill be real, Im such a sucker for it that I dont think I could stop watching it. I guess I would if they did something to the actual framework of boxing, if they increased glove size or something that kinda messes with the actual fabric of the sport, but outside of that, I could never stop watching it.

    Robberies like what happened today and that happen all the time in the sport, that is simply a symptom that humans will bring to any sport that relies on judging to determine its outcome, and as gut wrenching as it is, it doesnt change the beautiful ingrediants that exist within this beautifully brutal sport... and even if I got to where I think I couldnt watch boxing anymore, I would still watch out of hopes of capturing another night like Kirkland vs Angulo, Ward vs Gatti, Corrales vs Castillo, or to watch beautiful executions and combat scientists at work like a Mayweather, or an Ali....

    Nah, I could never stop watching boxing.... I am in love with its elements too much to be swayed by its illnesses for too long a time.

    ^ Agreed, Kirk.

    I'm kind of numb and accustomed to it now. It's a habitual thing. It's always happened in the sport and if Whitaker/Chavez didn't stop me going back, a decision between two overweight heavys certainly won't.

    Ring tragedies/fatalities are probabily the only things that see me having 'thoughts'.

    I will never stop watching. How can a die hard boxing fan stop watching boxing?

    Boxing has been ****ed up since it all started, and boxing is like a soap opera, just drama all the time and people getting ****ed over all the time. but it makes it all interesting.

    say del boy lost but really he won. same thing happened will martinz vs williams 1. some people benefit form a lose.

    Sad to put it this way, but boxing will always have these issues. You just have to accept them and hope for the best. Myself, I'm hopeful someone with a lot of money to throw around will take over boxing, get rid of the sanctioning bodies, all the titles and the promotional bull****. Kind of like what happened with the UFC. Can you imagine how popular boxing would be if it was structured like the UFC from a promotional and matchmaking standpoint. Alot of the bs would disappear.

    Plus, it will be interesting to see what happens when King and Arum are six feet under. Not that I wish that on anyone, but those two havent done anything positive for boxing fans in decades.

    i love the in ring action too much to ever give it up, but god damn we've been on a really bad run this year. It sucks because I legit don't have a single friend in real life who follows boxing and every time I try and get someone into it I find myself explaining "but its not always like this" yet it pretty much is. Would be nice to have a friend or two to actually watch fights with but it is what it is. I'm at least done paying for ppv's unless its mayweather pac.
