If you are going to blame it on something (besides Cotto), blame it on the braids, it's a well known fact that people with braids don't win.
Cotto, having closed the eye, opened up a home for his left. He is a natural leftie. The saying "one punch can change a fight" doesn't always mean that one punch has to be a KO.
Looking back at the first fight, Margo, like I said was coming on in the 6th round and was visibly wearing cotto down, and started to take over the fight at that point. Cotto was getting beat up in the 9th.. not sure what what the commentators in their first fight was talking about cotto winning the 10th. margo had him against the ropes landing some nice shots. I think it was he 10th round when you really began to see the damn. Cottos nose was bleeding in the 9th, looked exhausted, and looked extremely uncomfortable. His punches also weren't knocking margos head back like they did earlier.
0-3 since the plaster "rumors". This is too much of a coincidence. And while there were similarities between the first and second fight, this one was in no way shape or form turning out to be the same thing. And people saying that if Mrgo had 2 good eyes and this and that. he was cleared by docs who even claimed the eye to be better than ever and in the ring the eye didn't get shut all on its own. I believe Cotto had a lot to do with that eye getting closed up.
A prime, undamaged Margarito has Cotto's number. Easy for you sheeple to buy into the "Tony is 3vil!!!!!!!!! he had teh concrete wraps!!!" Tony was a one-eyed fighter tonight and marked up Cotto quite well in this fight for fighting with one eye, and Tony was not hurt at any point in the fight. 9/10 times a prime Margarito asserts his will over a prime Cotto. This is simply how it is, whether you choose to believe it or not.
A prime Margarito was a cheater. You cant even call him a hasbeen. He is a never was. He never amounted to anything in the ring. There is a cloud of suspicion over his whole career.
I didn't think Margarito should have been allowed to fight with that eye. Just saying. Personally, I wouldn't have let him.
Tony showed signs of wearing cotto down but cotto was man handling margo not allowing him to be as effective Even the first fight margo win the second round then and was looking strong Even in this fight when he had cotto on the ropes he couldn't keep him there and he was worn down himself with his pittter patter **** punches with no zap Round 9 I don even think he landed anything of significance This was a rejuvenated and changed cotto who did all those things he never use to do link clinch and use angles and lateral movement. He had a target and he sought it For cotto it was also said I him he would cut very easily, he had stamina issues, he couldn't take pressure but he obviously could change and came back how he was when he was considered #1 at 147 Props to cotto man forget all the excuses he had to do what he had to do, margo thought he had spooked cotto but another attribute cotto showed he had that others dismissed him for was discipline and composure he never went wild and he stuck to the game plan, he didn't get desperate like in the pacman fight etc I would like to see him fight PBF even if it 60/40 in favor of a floyd win
Anyone know what the punch stats were after 9 rounds in both of the fights. If Marg had landed, say, 50 punches less in the 2nd fight it may explain why Cotto wasn't as busted up. And they were wearing 10s in the 2nd fight and 8s in the first. Cotto being less busted up in the 2nd fight does not prove that Marg had loaded gloves in the 1st.
Cotto said "draw your own conclusions, look at my face now after this fight and compare it to the last fight" I'll take his word for it. :deal
