To me this fight would've played out just like the first with Cotto taking the early rounds and margarito the championship rounds if it wasnt for the bad eye. In this fight Margarito and Cotto weren't the same Margarito can't take a punch as well anymore because of the bad eye and that was proven. Does anyone think this proved anything having to do with the plaster of paris?

  2. It proved that Marg's punches were much weaker and that he sucks without plaster and that a Cotto without a plaster-****ed nose as of round 2, wins 8 out of nine rounds..

It only proved that Cotto has been working on his Stamina which was one of his many flaws. And the other thing that this fight proved to certain posters (Knowledgeable boxing fans already knew this) is that Margarito was always an Elite-level Fighter Brawler and all-around Tough-Guy BADASS. But as far as having any real talent...NOTHING!!! Flat=Footed, Slow, No Movement, doesn't know how to nullify another fighters movement, No Jab, can't counter and absolutely NO DEFENSE.

I don't think it proves anything about the presence of plaster or not. Cotto was still marked the **** up after the fight, just not nearly as badly. If anything, it shows how much Cotto improved since their first encounter. He showed superior stamina and fought a much better fight.

Proved a couple things. 1. Margo a G 2. Cottos a better mover and is faster than some give him credit for.

It didn't by any means prove that Margo had plaster hands in the first fight and it did nothing to erase the fact that Margo son'd the mother ****er the first time. Cotto won the boxing match tonight because Pac ****ed Margo's eye up and Margo's damaged goods. Prime for prime Margo would G the **** out of Cotto and son him as he did in the first fight.
Not taking anything away from Cotto tonight though, he did a great job, and though he ran, he did box beautifully.

lack of sign. damage to Cotto's face or even the body shots' lack of effect is what indicates the case here.

That the power of Margarito is in the way he throws his punches and where he lands them. I don't believe in the loaded wraps theory much. Brother Nazeem used the same tactic against Tito and don't believe that either. Truth is, put the right opponent in front of either fighter post-controversy and they will break them down just the same.

Cotto fought the same way he fought the first time. The difference here is that Margarito fought with one eye from the 3rd round on.

.....and I'm with the thread starter. The fight would have played out the same way had Margarito's eye been healthy.

......as for the plaster of Paris?????
Did any of you catch Margarito ripping Cotto to the head and body in that 3rd round?
If you looked closely, Cotto's legs looked unsteady for most of that round.
.....off of that, I thought Margarito was on his way to commencing a beatdown he eventually could not deliver seeing with one eye.

Cotto was visibly hurt in that 3rd round which to me put away any issue that Margarito may have loaded his wraps in the first Cotto fight.

Margarito can punch just as hard as he's every had, only this time he was'nt landing with the frequency he did the first time.

I will say this. I was rooting for Margarito, but am a fan of Cotto as well and was happy for him.

I did'nt catch the HBO version of the fight. I watched it on a foreign online stream, so I did'nt catch any interviews.

Was Cotto asked if there was any difference between Margarito's punches then and now?

all i can say is the ojo ****ed it up. we could have had the full 12 had the dr not stopped the fight because of the eye.

  11. He answered that he felt none of Marg's punches tonight..

And NO it would not have been like first fight. No loaded wraps to break nose in round 2, no gassed Cotto. Cotto UD 10 rounds to 2. End of story... and actually, Cotto was coming on STRONG in the 9th prior to Doctor saving Margarito's ass. So no, Margarito was NOT going to win tonight with 3 eyes. His punches were DONE after the 6th round... weak ass shots and Cotto ate them all and outclassed him

Margarito was never a big puncher.

It is impossible based on his punch mechanics - slow speed, and winging it can never genrate big power. He compensates by having heavier mass and volume.

during the kellerman interview he was hesitant to answer and gave dodgy answers. his face was marked up pretty good, worse than margarito's if you remove the eye from the equation
