Ive trained with 14 Oz gloves in sparring and they are way too heavy to throw anything effective. 10 oz gloves are still give you enough to throw some heavy shots and this is coming from a 140 llb fighter, im sure 154 pros can hit hard enough with them. 22oz gloves . . . . . seriously? :-(
I think they were 8 oz, but they were Cleto Reyes so its a different make than the everlast gloves used in the fight
Commission dependent. They had been 10 oz for WW in Nevada but was changed when one WW fight was threatened to be moved elsewhere if the fighters couldn't use 8 oz gloves. Then Nevada made it 'fighters choice' at WW between 8 and 10. Could have even been this fight. I don't remember for certain. I don't know what the rules are in New York. It was the first fight between these two that was responsible for the rule change. Both wanted 8 oz gloves there. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Battle_%28boxing%29
Now its a glove issueatsch What about those shots from Cotto with 8 oz should we ask. Margarito was manhandle literally and push around like a doll. As ESPN analyst said after presenting the Cotto/Margarito highlights, now on to the other mismatch of the night Boise State/New Mexico football game
