Hand wrap thing is overblown

i disagree. plaster of paris or the ingredients of it would harden like a brick once used. there's a reason why boxers try to "cheat" by using them. there was a big issue back then with some thai boxers using them before. i would try to look for a link.

 

A couple people missing the point being made (unless I'm missing the point :conf)

He's not saying that the illegal wraps are right, or that the illegal wraps would have little impact (I don't think it was meant to come across like that anyway). But I think he's trying to say, the difference between the two bouts is not the wraps. Just because Cotto won last night, does not mean that Margarito has been exposed as a not so powerful puncher without illegal wraps. He is saying that Cotto learnt from his mistakes, improved in other areas, and fought an excellent bout. I've read people saying already, "Last night showed why Cotto would have beaten Margarito the first time if not for illegal wraps". Which I disagree with, Cotto was destined to lose the first time, IMO...he came back and revenged his defeat, and showed he can overcome Margarito's relentless pressure.

 

Yup, because no one has ever ****ed up someones face without loaded gloves, no boxer has ever worn a guy down without loaded gloves, and by all means there's never been a TKO/KO without loaded gloves.

If anything, what happened last night confirmed that Margarito probably did have loaded gloves the first time. Margs punches obviously weren't as effective , and the result was totally different.

There a reason why there are regulation for hand wrapping.. Yes illegally wrapping your hand and loading your gloves does give you an advantage. A tapped fist incased in compact horse hair can produce considerable amounts of damage to a fighter face and head.. mild concussion, broken eyes socket, broken nose and jaw are just some of the thing that have an even greater chance of happening with loaded gloves.

If fighters and trainer didn't think that loaded gloves is such a big deal in boxing, then why is it a top rated sin ?

True Cotto may have lost the first even with or with out loaded gloves due to the fact that Cotto's Stamina in my opinion sux and he does not know how to fight when pressured.. but there is still the fact that cotto's face did not fall apart this fight, and he was not swallowing his own blood, and fighting with a swollen, face that made the difference in him staying in this fight longer .. Second Margo punches did not have the same effect in zapping Cotto of his will and stamina as they did in the first fight.. Big difference in this fight.

Since Margarito loaded gloves incident .. margo has been brutality KOed, beaten , and out boxed by elite competitions this fact can not be ignored..

This is good,this sounds like a lawyer defense.. No they do not turn you into the "Hulk" but I think it is fair to say they do SOME damage at least 20% more damage..

And Cotto had barely any swelling last night... don't confuse swelling with leather burn abrasions... his face had marks caused by the gloves, no real swelling, no real bleeding.
