Damn what couldve been with these two fighters. Both were undefeated and destroying everybody until they fought margarito. From what we know now it looks like there's a big chance that margarito cheated. Both werent the same after fighting margarito. Kermit got KO twice vs margarito and became a club fighter now. And williams even though he won i think the damage was done and got KO by a smaller Quintana afterwards. But you have to respect Williams i think his chin was great and rock solid he withstood 12 rds vs margarito even though is almost certain that he had plasters on his hands. Two great fighters that were damaged by a cheater. :hat
I had never seen paul williams retreat in a fight except for those last couple of rounds against Margarito. I guess the plaster had hardened at that point because paul williams retreats from no one even when he's getting battered. but who can stand there and get hit with cinder blocks and not retreat.
What about Daniel Santos? Or Sergio Martinez?? Who would later become the Middleweight Champion and a Top 5 P4Per...And last time i checked, Sergio Martinez is the one who ruined Paul Williams.
Margarito probably didn't think they were good enough opponents to use plaster against. Either that or he hadn't discovered them yet. It's painfully obvious he used them in the Cintron, Williams, and Cotto matches.
Why would he need to use them against Cintron?? He beat his ass back in '05, around the time he had his fights against Santos...Oh i get it now, Every time he won a fight he used them but when he didnt win, he didnt use them right?? Paul Williams even said he didnt think Margo hit that hard...****, even ****ing Cintron said that..It was only after the handwraps contoversy that he started saying he has never been hit hard like that before.
Perhaps IButt knows when Margarito started working with Javier Capetillo? But I really narrowed it down to two time periods he could have started using them. The first would be after the second Daniel Santos fight and the other time period would be right after the Paul Williams fight, both were significant losses for Margarito and were indications that his career was stalling. Especially the Williams fight, here he was out of a major payday because he couldn't beat a mandatory whom was his sparring partner at one point. That **** weighs heavily on a guy, and that might be when he decided to get an edge.
I would say if there was ever a time Margo would start loading up his wraps, it would definetly be after the Williams fight.
Anyone other than those with some agenda realize that Margarito had even a better chance of using those wraps against paul than he did Cotto. Paul and Shane both fought Margo in California while Cotto fought him in Nevada. Big difference.
Nah Margo didn't use his wraps against pwilly but pwilly still fought him like a punk ass ***** holding and ****.
