Opinion about the Stoppage of Cotto-Margarito II?

It was fair, when someone has to be cleared to fight after an eye injury and that same eye gets busted up in a fight, i think its smart to stop the fight.

Personally I believe that Margo did cheat the first time round and wouldnt mind seeing Cotto bash his eye out but there were 3 rounds left , 10-11-12. It was Cottos fight regardless and Margo was stumbling around like a baboon.

Good win for Cotto, would have been better with a proper KO but meh **** happens

 

It was an amazing stoppage as I had £2 on cotto in the tenth


To be honest I'm shocked anyone's thinking it's controversial. His bionic eye was fully blind.

 

good stoppage. his eye was steadily getting worse and he was taking too much undefended punishment. it was time to save him from himself if the fighters health really comes first.

I wouldn't have even let him fight. So of course it was a good call. The question became is he going to keep his eye after the fight not is he gonna win or lose it.

 

a) should have never been allowed in a boxing ring ever again after the Mosley fight

b) should never be allowed in a boxing arena after the Mosley fight

c) with an eye which his own team claimed a career ender less than a year ago, shouldn't have been licensed

So, combine those together with the fact that the messed up eye was swelled shut and taking a beating, the stoppage was more than OK.

Margarito was still pretty much in the fight and still had a chance of winning. However, his eye could be permanently damage if it had continued with the pressure that it is taking. Margarito has got a big heart but his eye is no longer fit for fighting. No complaints about the stoppage.

 

Don't know whether margarito would win, but he just had his best round in the 9th and seemed to be coming back while cotto appeared to be tiring more.

Also, it was forthe goodof margos health it was stopped. Personally I wouldn't mind seeing the ****er blinded in his one eye, so they should have let them continue.

 

I wouldn't mind giving Marg one more round for the benefit of doubt, if he felt like it. From thence, let's see how it'd play out. He deserved a round at the least: a 3-minute additional beating for cheating, or a 3-minute chance to land a "hail mary" shot for his undeniable toughness. 3 more minutes of pure boxing entertainment is not that bad for any fight fan's hard-earned dollars.

 

Bad stoppage, Im not saying Tony was going to come back but he did have a chance!

I'm a regular fan who like to see fights
The fight was good but the ending was ugly for me.
It doesn't mean margo wins should it continue but the fight should have continued.
There were many more worse swellings than that.
