    Depends on how you look at him, as a fighter I would have to say no? as someone that has been around since as long as I can remember, weather its fighting, commentating or giving analysis then yes he is IMO.

    As a boxer no, but for what he ment to the people of Ireland and Britain in a time of much trouble and strife then yes.

    Dont have to be a great boxer to be a legend IMO.

    If I was from Ulster (or maybe Ireland) then yes, for sure. Some very memorable nights.

    But as I'm not, then no. In fact, he's always mentioned on the list of people who shouldn't have made it into the Hall of Fame.

    He's a legendary irishman, not a legendary fighter. His popularity was immense and he's still a household name.

    I agree with this... McG was more as a boxer, he found a way to use his 'champ' status in the Irish conflict wich made him a legend.

    He deserves his place in the HoF for who he is, not so much for what he did. Although he had a decent career all things considered.
