well you dont go out & fight world champions in your first few pro fights

He had to retire after about three??..four??

Dave when he fought you was overweight, not fit & just going through the motions like he had thousands of times in spas

Prime Birch would have forced the ref to stop fight because you would have looked like a novice mug

Fenech won a world title in his 7th fight. :good

Birchy retired after 4 fights, 3 fights away from beating Fenechs record. :hey

Prime Birchy would have conqured the world and unifyed the division! :bbb

Fenech was fenech, HOF, all a bit different

But i suppose 4 pro fights is better than 0 :good

& like you said, for years he fought the best amatuers in the world, i doubt you'd have been much of a chance when he'd been mixing it in that company, i'm pretty sure he'd also beat most of the best in the world at various tournaments o/s

Yep, that excatly what I am saying. Boxing and fight sports is unique in this sence.

Look I know where you are coming from, and I think I outlined sparring progression what is in effect what you are saying, however up to the training direction.

But yes in sports outside of fight sports what you are saying is true.

Dear god of boxing, up there in heaven, hopefully listening in:

Would you please, oh big powerful one up dare, look up utube - stop at John Famechon; yes, just in case your fabulous, incredible mind might have forgotten him, cause everyone else down here has....

Oh Boxing God, this current boxing scene does lacketh a boxing saviour; people blaspheme the purist sort of a boxing code, by putting their utmost attempt at boxing which turns out to be farking dribble on youtube....

Could you flick on your Ipod on, go to your office notifications, memory prompt, and mark in a spot for a young boxing progeny to arrive on the planet; yes a young boy to be born in France?, who might travel to Melbourne, and take up boxing with a legend boxing trainer, yes, yes, yes, I know oh big boxing one up there....this is really asking for something special.....a real boxing trainer....maybe you need to resurrect one of those, cause we have none......my point is oh big one up dare, that Australia neeeeeeds another young Fammo, who gets to a gym, shows how a left jab, and counter and defence statageis can win the way through, all the time....better still though, he becomes a perfect model for all the people in boxing to emulate his perfection.....

Oh BG up there, could you program some bolts of lightening to be dispatched quickly....to be sent down immediately a dikehead puts up some egotistical, posery of poor boxing techniquery..

Big ask mate. Not too many Famechons pass our way. Nor Lionels for that matter.

Yes, this is what caused me to take my religious plea to BoxGod up there Zoley...if you knew me, you would know that I would only ever go to religion if I was up shite creek without a paddle.....perhaps in our praying harder, our wish, we might eventually cause our own selves to stumple accross or simulate some greater boxing techniques....

Alright there Tiger just a quick question mate , What the **** were you old timers eating and drinking back in the day ? An old boy who fought Winstone way back when playfully threw a stiff jab out onto my jaw one day as I walked into the pub ( he always tried to do this but being younger and bigger I normally parried the shot ) but this one day my mrs distracted me and he landed lol **** me I've been king hit with less force , the old **** just stood there laughing and said " told you I'd land one day son " my mrs laughed too .

Mmm......sounds like he liked you and wanted to teach you a great lesson JWales.......the old codger obviously knew your defence strategy was down or ragged.....wanted to show you what a big affect a stiff jab can have.

Then again that old codger might have just farkin hated you.

The day of a fight mate: only one meal .... eggs and raw cooked steak at midday after the weigh in, lots of salt on the steak and bits of salt eaten off a spoon during the day, leading up to the fight; to drink....just small mixtures of cider vinegar, orange juice and honey. Through out the day and leading up to the fight at night, I liked to chew on a two inch rusty nail...mainly cause I was totally mad.

PS: Howard Winstone was a legend.

:rofl that's ****ing mental. Just to clarify, you think that somehow a boxer has a different brain to everyone else and learns differently? I'd be fascinated to know the process, this is going to revolutionise neuroscience. What does a boxers basal ganglia and cerebellum do? Does the boxer still store visual representations of movement in their left inferior posterior parietal lobule? How many fights do you need before your brain transforms? Or does it just happen when you decide to take up boxing?

    You are a deadset dumb****.
