Bob Arum gave a couple of interviews today for his 80th birthday. He had some interesting news on the potential Pacquiao-Mayweather fight.

The first interview was with USA Today:

The second interview was with The Las Vegas Review Journal:

    So according to Bob:

    1. Everyone wants the fight
    2. Hopefully they can come to an agreement before the new year
    3. It's up to Floyd if he wants Golden Boy Promotions involved

People just need to be calm and have patience, there is no real reason for it not to happen. Just wait till its announced or another fight then either celebrate/flame on it.

"Why would I not want that fight to happen?" Arum said. "Manny wants it. Boxing fans want it. The media wants it.

"(Schaefer) is desperate because he has no stake whatsoever right now in a fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather. Now if Floyd wants Schaefer and Golden Boy involved, that's up to Floyd. He's his own man."

That's how I'm taking it and how fans generally should.

On an unrelated note, I'm surprised he'd be so honest to say Pac-May isn't likely to surpass Ali VS Frazer in historic weight. Considering he's called Many the best fighter he'd ever seen live including Ali, it's surprising.

Mayweather has already said he needs to talk to Schaefer and Haymon, but Arum would rather talk to Joe Jackson.

if Joe Jackson is a major investor in a $200 million fight, then they're already sunk. I thought it was well known that Joe Jackson doesn't have a lot of money after that JoeCola fiasco and was mainly living on handouts from his son, who himself wouldn't have had the financial resources to invest in a $200 million fight.

    What's going on here?

Last month he didn't want the fight because "Floyds mouth could really damage Manny's reputation as president" or words to that effect

Now he really wants the fight

Yet he mentions he will make the fight that makes most sense for Manny.

It's pretty obvious he's going to do another in house top rank fight and pay the challenger peanuts and give Manny the lions share.

Bob Arum I hope you don't make 81.

    100% this.

Ward vs Froch next week is more relevant!

Ward in a UD for me!
