Erik can`t have too many solid performances left in him but he`s a true warrior & will likely keep going until he gets beat bad, its just the way he is.... here`s hoping he does the biz against Garcia.

C'mon Garcia....Campbell, Holt now Morales? Who's next Augustus, Corley and Baldomir? Time to Step it up young fella. But Now I am hoping Morales wins, because it would truly make a EM vs JMM FAR MORE ATTRACTIVE.

Saw Garcia live when he scored a KO in Philly in 09 I was impressed but then I saw him on TV struggle big time and maybe even deserve to lose to Theophane

I stopped following him and just went on boxrec and saw he beat Holt Campbell and Arnaoutis thats 3 pretty solid wins

I think he can beat Morales who did not impress me vs Cano

Molina is one of my favorite active boxers, he took the hard route and its paying off, he is not a great athlete or gifted with speed and power but despite being average in most categories he is well rounded and a solid boxer

He can beat Kirkland as he has never shown to be weak chinned but we will see

I thought that the Kirkland-Molina fight was going to end up on the 2/18 Alexander-Maidana undercard?

For some reason Morales vs Garcia doesn't get me excited...

I kinda thought the Kirkland team would go for a softer touch this time around but i guess it is onward and upward. I see it a s a natural step in James progression but as others have stated this is a high risk low reward fight. if you are going to fight someone with the talent of Molina you want to make sure he has more name recognition. Dangerous, dangerous fight, I know Molina is very durable but I think with Anne Wolfe in his corner I got Kirkland by late stoppage.

on the flip side, could Kirkland be Molina's AA?

Garcias has No killer instinct...even when he had holt hurt he was tentative in going for the kill and he looked less than impressive against Campbell. Should be interesting as he is not the hardest guy to hit and neither is Morales. Kirkland barely got payed for the Angulo fight, I would have liked seeing him against k9 or Trout for his next match.

Good but not a great card.

I'm a little surprised that Morales' name is being tied to a prospect/contender like Garcia. I would have figured he'd pursue a bigger name. Perhaps Oscar has opened up his pocketbook wide enough to entice EM into such a fight.

Kirkland-Molina is a solid scrap. Molina has earned a shot a bigger stage and Kirkland ought to be fighting a guy like Molina prior to facing the elite, though he is marketable enough now, IMO, to be immediately matched against a bigger name and showcased on PPV.

I know why Wolfe wants Kirkland to fight Molina, he is gong to be their prep for Canelo, Trout, and Lara. I didn't think they were true about beating the best in the division, but with this decision, when they could have easily went after a bum like K-9 tells me Wolfe wasn't bullshiting.

It doesn't make sense financially, but legacy wise, I respect what Wolfe and Kirkland seem like they are about to attempt to do.

They could still fight the best BUT fight K-9 first. I think both guys would have been a step in the right direction but K-9 would be a little less risk and a more reward (bigger name) and continue to help rebuild Kirkland's confidence. Either way I see Kirkland beating both guys . . . just K9 quicker.

I think Molina is a great fighter, but he isn't a huge puncher, and I think long term, this is the best fight for Kirkland, because he still has to work his ass off and take it seriously or it is back to being written off. I think Wolfe may be targeting Trout, before they go to Canelo, two light hitting excellent boxers, if Kirkland can hone his craft to deal with them, while being able to deliver his pressure better with less avenues of counter, I would say he would be ready for Alvarez, plus he would have built up a nice 154 resume.

Either way I'm glad to see him not taking a paper title, but actually fighting the best. That is a old-school trait.
