Cooney fans would have just come out with a million and one far-fetched excuses after Holmes beat him, given the internet and its powers of letting the nuthugger imagination run wild.

I can remember when Wlad lost to Brewster, the excuses were endless, everything up to and including extra-terrestrial intervention.

As for Tyson-Douglas there would be about twenty pages of "Tyson was robbed", "Tyson was drugged", "I've just timed the count- Douglas was down for THIRTY-THREE SECONDS!" threads.
****, it's 18 years later and I'm still hearing the excuses for that one. Some of these shmucks weren't even born then !

    Harry Wills fans.

After 3-4 years of him getting ducked by the champ...you can bet there'd be some annoying Wills fans running around.

We'd actually have to listen to them, too.

Makes you wonder if it could have happened in the internet era.

Presumably Peter Jackson, Sam Langford, Sam McVea and George Godfrey would also have their devotees. At times it would have looked like any of these guys could be the new big thing.

I would wish the Johnson Jeff fight was in the internet's time, What would the trends be in the build up of the fight? Jeff will win it for the White Race?
During the fight, Jeff is getting beating. And after the fight, Did you see all the riots in the after math of the fight lol.

Dont belive that historic fighter fans have delusions.
    Ali's fans are the loudest..
    Tysons fans are the silliest
Rockys fans just WANT to belive
Corbett fans are just plain laughed at.
I also dont think that lynchings after the Johnson/ Jeffries fight are laugh out loud funny.
Most historic fighters STILL have many fans, for me the most annoying of these are the ones who ignore facts and history, and reinvent their own facts to make their guy win at all cost...:smoke

No the riots are not funny, but just wondering how the boxing internet world would be like during the build up, and after math of the fight.

Having traveled before through some old usenet and rec. listings before...the general reaction to Douglas-Tyson from the Tyson fans was, yes, complaining about the 8th round 'long count'.

I am confident that the general forum fans could surpass them in terms of both extreme viewpoints and poor manners.
