From the scene, Tomas Rojas admitted to taking a dive in his 2007 fight against Jorge Arce. I just watched the "KO" in question and honestly, it may have been a phony. Thoughts? [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R9GjFbRQ6xE[/ame]
The older I get.... the more suspicious I am of Oscar-Hopkins... even though I have taken left hooks to the body and they hurt like hell.
It looked fairly genuine to me. If he was faking it, why would he get up before the 10 count? And just before that he was really going for it. No idea why he'd say this now, nearly 5 years later though.
I know that's how it looks, but it still could be a fake. Liver shots are funny like that. My brother and I often have body shot fights hitting as hard as we can. I can take his shots all day and this is without gloves. He outweighs me by 25 lbs. or so. One time this little kid walked up to me and hit me with a quick liver shot and almost took my breath. It's just like being with a woman, that button is there, you just have to find it. :yep
Thats bs i read the article and the supposed deal was that if rojas could not ko arce in 6 rounds he would have to take a fall for 10000 us dollars...come on really?
what a load of ****, he was going to war with him just before the KD, Rojas is a punk! Arce ****ed him up
Their was no delayed reaction to the body shot, as is the norm. He went down in less than a second after the shot. Looked like BS. Plus he got stoppage on a barrage to the head, which was not hurt, rather than accumulation to the body, which was. Im not saying it was fixed, but it does look fishy.
I don't believe it for a second. He did have some success against Arce, though. That still doesn't mean he willingly gave away a fight he could have won...or that it wasn't a real knockdown.
In the interview ( I read it in spanish) he says that he was offered the fight and was told "you have 6 rounds to get the KO, if you can't get it then you have to take a dive", he explained that he thought that was the only way to be on TV and therefore get better fights in the future (actually after that tv azteca broadcasted a several of his fights) Also it's important to mention that gusano told all this to the reporter "off the record" gusano was trying to explain how the boxing world is corrupt, but he specifically told the reporter to keep that part out of the final interview, anyways the reporter saw the chance to make a few bucks and published the note. he also said that travieso was going to give him an extra 2 thousand but Travieso failed to make the payment after the fight hahaha
