Would JMM have beaten the 140 lb and up guys Manny beat

This just silly. For the same reason Floyd shut him out, all of these guys beat JMM. And I love Marquez, one of my favourite fighters.

He would have a chance against that version of Hatton because he was pretty much ruined and had abandoned the scant defence he employed until he beat Tyszu. They aren't that different in size, except that Hatton carries more weight.

But basically, Marquez has a style that give Pac problems because he's one-dimensional. He may be excellent at it, and Roach has added some nice wrinkles to his game, but he's a slugger at heart. When he can't get off as he'd like he gets frustrated and drops his right hand, hoping to draw a lead. Marquez is a superb technician and timed the right instead then stepped to the side to stop Pac from setting his feet.

Cotto and Mosley are more versatile than Pac (though not as good at this stage of their careers), so wouldn't get frustrated the same way. Plus, I don't think Marquez has the power to hurt either man.

 

hatton was totally shot when he fought manny

 

many keep saying that jmm is the smaller guy, but look at the pics and vids from pac/mm I to III. tell me who is the bigger guy. jmm just overstayed at the lower weight divisions opting to dehydrate and rehydrate at fight night.

Pac won against the big welters because of his speed and power and style of fighting while marquez is a counterpuncher who waits for his opponents to open up and these big welters will just walk on through his countes. i think all guys will beat juan except hatton.

He'd beat the version of De La Hoya that Pacquiao fought. Same with Hatton. A prime for prime match up of Marquez & Hatton is an intresting match up. He beats Cotto, Clottey and Margrito. I think the version of Mosley that Pacquiao fought gives Marquez problems.

Marquez could beat that version of dela Hoya, but other than dlh: cotto, margo, mosley, clottey would beat jmm.

marquez just gives pac nightmares becasue marquez' style is much difficult for pac to handle vice versa.

Yes definitely. It's laughable to compare those guys to Jmms skill level. Hes clearly on the highest level so its not just a matter of styles but a matter of greatness. None of those fighters Manny fought are even close to Floyds level so it wasnt just Floyds size but his skills which are unmatched in this era at least. Jmm is a great counterpuncher Floyd is a great counterpuncher with great defensive skills and speed.
