People sure do like to overrate the "what could have been" fighters.

He wasnt a could have been fighter. He knocked out Julian Jackson , and was beating the **** out of Nigel Benn.

Jackson was not that great a MW. Also he got beat by Benn so it is a moot point.

Hopkins has a good chin and would box his way to a UD.

Benn did not beat him , It gets me pissed when people consider it a win for Benn , Something happened to Gerald that could happen to any fighter and thats in the hands of God, Geralds Brain was already damaged during the fight. Gerald was winning on the scorecards:deal

he lost. don't use the quitali fan excuse of "he was winning before he lost".

that is not necessary, because unlike brittley, g-man actually won a big fight of note against a reigning champ (who will likely end up in the hall of fame).

The physical prime Hopkins would get KOed in about 7.

The mentally prime Hopkins may be outpointed. In a series of 2, I'd pick both to pick up a W. I don't think Hopkis is active enough to beat McClellan easily.

He still lost regardless of the circumstances, a lose especially by KO is always legitimate. Sorry.

Can't count that as a true loss, sorry! It would have been a different fight had the G-Man not develop a blood clot

It is like saying if you didnt get clipped with that right and get KO'd. It is a sad situation, soI dont want to get into it too much. I think at his best he would beat Benn. I do not think he would beat Hopkins.
