As a technical boxer he's a throwback, his skillset is excellent very technical which is rare in boxing today, he can adapt his style to different styles, he's very intelligent, he studies boxing and different boxers. As a performance it was a throwback too combining good outboxing, intelligent pressure, timing, in fighting, bodypunching, cutting off the ring. He's just beat a world class Khan and beat the crap out of him in the process. That's what I call good value in winning a world title, he ripped the title out of Khan's heart Last night reminded me of Duran-Leonard 1, technical pressure taking apart a quicker speedster.
Watched an interview about him, seems a good lad, likeable, good luck to him and hope he wins the rematch.
Was rooting for Khan, but Peterson is such a damn likeable character. Well deserved. Got no criticisms about the fight or how it went down unlike others, for me it's great for boxing fights like these. Do i hear rematch? Wouldn't mind seeing that!
he lacks skill though he cant fight moving backwards his footwork is **** his best work is done on the inside but he isn't very strong, lucky for him khan doesnt know how to infight.
A very, very good fighter. But tonight he fought above his class. It will be the best win of his career. Ortiz beat him and got robbed, and Bradley soundly thrashed him. He's a fringe contender, who merely served to show us Khan wasn't the #1 140 in the world. I like the guy, but I don't forsee a long reign. He drops the belt to the next top 5 he fights. With his skillset, he would truly make the move to consistent world class performer if he wasn't so damn physically weak. I've always maintained both the Peterson brothers need to go one more weightclass down, and they could both easily do so. Lamont at 135 is very formidable. At 140, he struggles mightily every time he faces a guy who won't give ground, and that doesn't bode well for further success. Congrats on getting by Khan, though. A close win over the star is a rare thing in boxing; Peterson is to be congratulated. He won the upset of the year, and Khan didn't show anything to suggest he could win a rematch by any more than a few points; The deductions cost him the fight, but I doubt he sends Peterson down in a rematch, either.
I had Peterson to pull the "Upset" last night & was pulling for him to get the victory. IF Lamont could somehow maintain his workratre thru-out a 12rd fight dude could be a problem for anyone. (Chin seems strong)
That's funny that you call Bradley a disgrace, and Timid Timmy, yet he beat Peterson pretty convincingly.
I thought peterson was struggling to make 140 and was moving up to 47? wasn't he 150+ in the ring last night?
He looked very good last night. He bossed Khan around the ring and made him run or hold on as much as he could to avoid punishment.
Congrats:yep good post:good thats the 1st bit of sensible verbage you've posted in ages, you're learning:hey
Peterson showed real heart and determination and made the adjustment mid fight to hunt Khan down. It was a great fight, and Peterson is a classy guy. I wish Khan(though I get he was just upset) would have showed more class after the fight when Merchant interviewed him.
Peterson, Kirkland, Ward, P.Williams, Eddie Chambers, Mikey Garcia, Gary Russell Jr. All people who fit your description.
