Was the American referee fair to Amir Khan?

Yes he was fair, he told Khan not to push.. Khan was spoiling the whole fight it was pathetic...

This loss ain't that bad, Khan deserved to loose, come back in a rematch, this is what boxings about, good fights... Not just about money & prestige.. Khans just upset his Ego got dented... Lamont beat him up and deserved the win.. let Khan come back and fight better then he'll get soo much more respect and the victory will be even sweeter..

I could definitely tell the ref had no interest into listening to his complaints, but he took away points without giving a hard warning for the pushing. Yes, he warned, but never to say the next time you do it, I'm taking away a point. Looks like this ref has just seen his last fight as an official for a while.

 

Petersen fouled for the entire fight too by leading with the head. If the ref is going to be extremely picky and deduct two point for pushing then he should be doing the same to Petersen.

 

You can't use two hands to push a guy off every time he's beating you up inside. Khan did this probably 30 times.

This is not a hard call.

 

I love all the people on here who are applauding the ref for "letting these guys fight". That's exactly what he didn't do. By deducting two points unnecessarily, he took the fight out of the fighters hands and obviously influenced the decision heavily. Neither fighter should have been penalized for anything in that fight. And I have never in my life heard a ref say a fighters name more in one fight than Cooper did last night. "Stop holding Khan," "Stop pushing the head down Khan," "Khan this," "Khan that," "Khan Khan Khan." It was laughable. And I had no stake in the outcome. Actually prefer that Peterson won. Just hate when refs influence a fight that much. Can Smooger ref every fight moving forward?

 

Khan fought a dirty fight. Pushing, holding, tying up, hitting on the break. I don't think the ref should of taken the second point. The first was fine. He did also call a bull**** knockdown in the first round.

 

As a Brit, I say tHe ref WAS fair. While he may have been strict, he gave Amir ample warning, and Khan continued to foul.

I was rooting for Peterson but in Khan's defense, he did seem to be weary of Peterson's head. But I didn't take it as Peterson intentionally butting. He was most effective on the inside and I think he was coming in with his head low to lessen Khan's ability to catch him on the way in...That's how I saw it anyway:conf

 

Funny how Khan complained that he wasnt warned but when Maidana lost a point last year without a warning he didnt say a word LOL.

 

Terrible, biased, attention-whoring fool of a ref.

He should never officiate such an important fight again, he was ****ing useless.

I thought the ref was stricter than most, so Khan was possibly unlucky to lose points for pushing. I can't ever remember seeing it before? However, saying that he was warned OVER and OVER again and must have realised it was coming. The ref wasn't going to change his stand on pushing half way through the fight, so Khan should have changed his. A lack of intelligence cost him, which doesn't surprise me as he's never been the brain of Britain.

 

Both were fighting dirty. Ref should have warned Peterson as well.
