Hold up a second, Khan lost a close decision with someone who Roach had the opportunity to study while working for the olympic team. Who Roach said wouldn't win a round against Khan. Did you really think the fight would be this close going in?

Manny won a close decision which most fighters and the public thought he lost.

Linares also lost in a brutal fight, had he had a better defense, tied up his opponent better kept better distance he should and could have won.

Now if there was just one fighter in Roach's stable that lost then thats cool but you can see in all three of these fights each fighter was put through hell due to some fundamentals being missing.

Now Im asking whos job is it to instill these fundamentals in the fighter if not the coach?

Like I said to another poster Roach is far from ****, is he one of this generations Elite coaches YES is he the VERY best I dont think so.

But Im interested in your opinon so lets hear it

actually, i don't like floyd for his attitude and etc, and i think pac could still possibly beat pbf, but TS is right, pac-marquez was supposed to be a beating, and now khan was outboxed by a guy who has 15 ko victories in his 32 fights...

He needs to remain at 140 and chase that Peterson rematch in terms of his career, and stick around for Bradley. He is NOT ready to move up in weight and why does he need to? He makes 140 comfortably and only rehydrates to around 149 max on fight night anyway. I just wonder if Roach is the man to address the flaws and weaknesses of Amir Khan, because it seems to be a pattern thats emerging among both Manny and Amir, that roach IMPROVED what they were already gifted with and maximized their skillsets with them, but he never addressed their weaknesses and its shown with both Manny when fighting Marquez(destroyed so many opponents who style-wise appealled to him but fell apart against a cleaver boxer) and Khan against Lamont.

Roach cant do **** with khan, khan has reached his peak.

he went from getting his ass beat by british domestic blown up featherweights to beating maidana, kotelnik, judah etc. i doubt he'd ever reach the pac, floyd etc level no matter who trains him.

I think you are right about him staying at 140 BUT he HAS to improve now as everyone has seen two or three ways they can beat Khan.

I'm not confident that he will win a rematch with Lamont what is he going to do better next time? He obviously doesnt have the power to stop him? He didnt run out of steam (and boy did he run lol)

It could be another close affair and he comes out without the W then what happens to his career?

Roach needs to review the tape and be really critical of himself as well as Khan and start working on fighting going backwards and inside fighting and defense asap

Khan also needs to use his brain better for such a good boxer he is getting in ALOT of wars **** the bravdo we know your chin is ok so stop taking Big shots like skittles.

You dont think he could improve his defense if he worked on it?

It seems to me alot of his faults are through lack of practise or being unprepared.

But I do agree he DEFINATELY is not on Mannys or Floyds level

Personally I like Roach and his story. But he was/is overrated and his fighters were sometimes successful from good matchmaking.

Who is the best then? Roger Mayweather? Steward? Enzo Calzaghe?

Great fighters lose - even the elite ones. Same applies for coaches too.

You would have to be an exceptional fighter to remain unbeated against top top competition.

I wouldnt be so sure of a Khan win second time round neither, it could be just as close as this one was. I believe may Khan should take his time from here on out and fight another top ten LWW that he could learn something from or simply gain more ring expierience from? Looking at boxrec i got these as possible good fights for him to learn from and develop:

Devon Alexander - Similar to Khan in the sense that hes young and flawed, but still has his share of talent too. Would be a good win if Khan could 1+ Bradleys and Kotelniks performances against him and based on styles may be interesting?

Mike Alvarado - Undefeated and seems to have a good dig, not too familar with him minus the fact that he stopped Khans former Conquerer Breidis Prescott. Would be a good name to have on the list and poses a threat.

I believe its down to BETTER coaching by Roach, as in actually addressing his flaws as you've said, and also getting him the expierience and the names that would allow him to stand out. If he fights those two names, alongside Bradley and a second match with Peterson he practically cleans out the division and possibly beats them all (or atleast has the claim that he fought everybody)

why was pacquiao-marquez supposed to be a beating when the two previous fights are not? and peterson is not a pushover. if you always fights tough match-ups, sooner or later you would find someone who would give you fits. why do people think that it should always be a one-sided fight?

even beristain said that sometimes, there are opponents that are better than your fighter.
