The thing about the pushing, HBO mentioned that you usually get away with it. The trick you're taught (atleast we was) from the amatuers through to the Pro game is to push the other guy off using your lead sholder. Khan was too square. If he was in stance he could of pushed Peterson off with his sholder and been in position to punch. The sholder is your defence from the other guys head. A good example of this is the fights with Mallignagi and Diaz, Paulie uses his lead sholder to create space between him and the swarming Diaz all night long. You don't push the guy like you would in a playground at school, that's obvious and crude. Khan still needs alot of refinement, in terms of tricks and especially his inside game.
Yeah I noticed that too. They were obvious arm pushes. Last night showed Amir needs to up his inside game.
I was taught to create space by bumping with my shoulder. That shoulder bump gave/gives you just enough space to throw some shots on the inside. Khan was shoving with both hands and extending his arms fully to save himself from his lack of inside fighting ability. Khan This content is protected
Taking this DVD to the gym tomorrow night, going to show the kids I teach how NOT to get somebody off of you. I'll do a few drills teaching them how to create space. Ideas would be welcome.
If Khan wasn't training under Freddie Roach, the coaching would be being questioned a lot more. Khan lunges in horribly, chin up and hands down. He has no in fighting skills whatsoever other than to yank on the other mans head. He also looks as flustered under fire as he did 4 years ago. Thank God he won't now ever share a ring with Floyd Mayweather.
Incredible how some are still blaming the ref for not warning him hard enough. He told him numerous times to quit pushing and the points were rightfully deducted. If he doesn't push he wins the fight. Too bad.
