Everything going crazy? Khan won, ref sucked, Peterson a warrior but lost

Fact of the matter is peterson would have another L on his forehead had he not had the help of a hometown dc referee. I saw peterson pushing. I saw him holding khans head with his left while he loaded up with rights. I heard warning given to keep his head up. Oh but when poor little monty gets pushed, its point deduction time. It was a hell of a fight and was the outcome was ruined by a clearly biased ref. At least mora had the balls to give an interview. ***** ass dc ref is a disgrace. Utter disgrace

 

Fight was close, can't complain about Peterson getting it after deductions, even though I thought Khan squeaked it. Peterson fought like a true warrior.

Did hear the ref warn Khan a million times but the ref was just awful. A clinch is allowed in boxing but the ref didn't seperate the fighters after a clinch 80% of the time! He kept saying "Stop holding Khan" and let Peterson punch on the inside as soon as he forced Khan to stop holding. Clearly inexperienced referee, you can't stop a fighter working on the inside but it was a bit extreme last night. In the end I think the ref affected the course of the fight and that isn't what a ref should be doing.

On another note, I think Khan fought stupidly, trying to act like he can take a punch. He could've won rounds more convincingly and put the decision out of sight. Great action to watch though.

 

Defo saw this as well, holding and hitting several times. Don't think it was excessive at all, but if he's getting on Khan's case, he should be on Peterson's as well.

By some I presume you mean "more than one". But of these some, the most you can see going the other way is 1. But if they were "genuinely close" then that implies all of your "some rounds" could go the other way.

So could you clarify what you mean by "some" and "genuinely close"?

I agree BigBone Khan won a close fight, and the ref was a clown.

Oh well Khan is going to beat Peterson again in a rematch.


Plus I like to add, Peterson such a nice kid hope he enjoys being a world champion no bitterness there, top guy.

 

Khan should've been penalized for pulling Petersons head down if anything, not pushing. He throws 5 punch combos and grabs or pushes your head down. You cant push either. Using floyds elbows as justification that he should lose points also is almost ignorant. You don't want to be Lanceuptheass ignorant.

 

Khan nicked it in the championship rounds imo, he just wanted it more but the point deductions cost him the fight. Khan also should've moved more and jabbed off the ropes. Jab more period he let Peterson dictate the pace and Peterson landed the crisper punches in the first half. I thought Khan wanted it more but I'll rewatch the fight and give credit for both men for making an exciting fight(no credit to the ref though). Imagine that ref somehow reffing George Foreman's fights. He would have the most DQ's of all time. Khan should learn to control distance more and avoid being trapped as Peterson could not cut the ring off as effectively as Maidana he should've jabbed his ears off. Khan should learn from this fight but I just think he's smart enough as a fighter. My assessment of Roach is going down.....

 

The problem I have with Roach is that he can't teach his guys to fight inside AT ALL, they eat hooks and uppercuts like goddamn treats.

Roach has Khan fighting almost like some kind of lesser mini 70's Ali, lots of movement and distance, but also just leaning on the ropes and covering up when a guy gets inside, as well as clinching and leaning to try to nullify their offence.

 

Good post. During the fight, I was thinking this will be a great FOTY candidate. With the contreversy though, I think it won't receive that accollade.

 

My thing is, if Khan "officially" won the fight, he still would've been thrashed by what many have called a C+ lww challenger. He didn't look good in the fight whether he kept his belts or not.

Folks who don't think he's gonna get whooped in the higher weight classes are sadly mistaken.
