Too bad the referee handed the fight over to him with two bogus point deductions. Deductions aside, that would've been a unanimous decision for Amir Khan. Like Larry Merchant said: "No pushing in boxing? C'mon....." Meanwhile, the ref allowed Peterson to bulldoze his head in each and every time. None of this matters though when the rematch comes March 31, 2011 in Las Vegas instead of Washington DC and with a competent ref. Khan will win that fight just as he should have justly won last night.
Noone got their ass whooped but anyone that knows boxing can see Khan won the fight, close but clear.
I thought Khan deserved the win but I can't sit here and say I wasn't happy Lamont came up like he did. It was a great fight though and it's fights like those where the "loser" doesn't lose any stock going forward.
Having re-watched the fight, Khan was doing alot of the flashy slapping punches & footwork while Peterson was digging into the ribs & getting the best of Amir on the inside. Khan stayed eating hooks from both sides. Peterson's workrate alone was the reason Amir seemed to win some rounds. (When Lamont decided to open up & fight Khan was getting smacked) IMO
Peterson did whop that ass to the point of making Khan foul every time Peterson got inside. Khan didn't want or couldn't handle that pressure, those body shots, and those short, hard right hands. They made Khan run, hold and foul. Peterson did indeed whop that ass fair and square. Khan complained about head butts, but I didn't see any intentional head butts or any other intentional foul by Lamont. All the fouling came from Khan in his attempts to get away from the ass whopping he was taking. Great fight Peterson! If you can do the same thing again with double the intensity during the rematch, you'll win again.
Real close fight even on uk tv which is so biased there wasn't any debate about the first knockdown and said they were looking for two knockdowns!!! they had it close and said Khan threw his titles away with the point deductions. you can make an argument that the points were the decisive factor but if you noticed after the first point reduction Khan had no idea how to get Peterson off him. He had to resort to the same tactics that got him the point deduction. If there is a rematch and Khan is warned early for fouling he could be in serious **** all over again
Only one person got their ass whooped and that was the guy running, literally, running across the ring away from that body work that was eating his ass up.
No way. He had Khan turning his back alot and even...well I wont say running but scrambling away in extreme distress from his body attack. I didnt agree with that point deduction and I also didnt think that the KD in the first was legit but still waiting on a better camera angle on it. Aside I think it was a close fight but clear. It amazes me how some people that claimed Khan won in a landslide seem to be ignoring the superb body work of Peterson. Either way I would love to see a rematch. Very entertaining fight.
lol-Khan got beat up-Khan lost that fight 7-4-1 even..116-113 is how I had it. Khan's head was getting snapped back..**** was funny lol
Having rewatched the fight just now I just can't see how you can score it for Lamont without the point deductions. Without counting the KD in round 1 and the BS point deductions Khan won by 2 rounds clearly.
Khan got warned then pushed with his forearm and elbow, fair docking then he did it again later, if your docked once and do it again your docked again plus Khan got a BS KD take away the knockdown and Petersen wins clear
