Based in the US bcos of £ he made a minimum $1.1 million from the USA which doesn't include the British money.

Khans made it known he doesn't think UK fans appreciate him and wants to make it big in America (google it, plenty of quotes). But from What I've pieced together his American fights haven't been big tickets sellers, modest turnouts for Judah and Maidana, Malinaggi was in the theatre at MSG which seats something like 3 thousand. Going to a guys hometown is one way to put more arses on the seats.

Uve hit the nail on the head. The fans couldn't care less khan lost as long as he give them there moneys worth and an exciting fight. They'll pay to watch him again based on petersons fight. It sounds silly but he's probably imcreased his fanbase even though he lost.

I didn't expect that, I just explained that's why the fight was in DC. Rob suggested Khan had all the leverage and he doesn't - GBP can't subsidise him entirely from TV money. It's bad business.

It would make more sense for Khan, financially speaking, to be in the UK. But then HBO won't pay the big money.

Hbo are cutting their budgets, more emphasis is going to be placed on tickets by promoters. Golden boy got Mitchell out there too last night so they will go back to DC. Broner in Cincinnati couple weeks back, canelo in anaheim and la instead of Vegas,Chavez Jr in Texas, Donaire in NYc because its the second biggest pinoy area, Rios on Texas next time out, Wards been doing it in Oakland. The mega fights will always land on Vegas, other than that boxing in America is slowly but surely getting back to ticket sales

Which is healthy for the sport, IMO.

Well they've got Hershman on board now who has proven he can make good fights on a lesser budget.

Was interesting to read Kathy Duva the other day. They've got a new deal with nbc sports. Nbc specified that they didn't want any fights taking place in casinos as they want real boxing fans creating an atmosphere. Can only be good for the sport imo

Yeah I was thinking the same thing. I think in that fight someone had sent Jim Mcdonnel a text saying Jim Watt had Degale ahead and those two simpletons got confused and decided that meant Degale had won.

I'm always watching every facial expression and trying to guess if the result has got out. It must happen sometimes. Last night I was seriously worried that Khan was going to win when Ariza told Khan he'd won.

Maybe the same happened and they got Ledermans scorecard. Angelo Dundee use to do that a lot back in the day. He'd get someone to tell him how television was scoring it after each round.

he fought in Washington because DC has one of, if not the biggest muslim communities in America.

i imagine the reason behind it was that fighting there made it look like they where fighting in Petersons' back yard, but behind it all they expected more muslims to be there.

they made a grave error. They either underestimated Petersons' support, or over estimated their own.

either way, Khan is up **** creek now

Haye v Valuev was an obvious one where he'd been told that he'd won.

It was a great story for Peterson, genuine Hollywood, more so than Wards now cos Peterson has genuinely won 2 major titles from the number 1 in the division.

Khan needed this loss on the world level, just like he needed the Prescott loss on the upper echelons of the domestic level.

It was clear that he'd been told.
